What you want is a test pipe. If you just took off the cat and left the rest open it would be ridiculously loud. Get a test pipe and you'll get decent gains.

Decent gains of maybe 2 or 3 hp. The cats on the 5th gens aren't too restrictive. There were dynos done between the RT cat and the OEM cat, no difference. Really only see a major difference if you were supercharged, turbo, or nitrous.

OEM muffler - one two!

[i like the muffler on my max. when u reach a high rpm the muffler opens the second pipe to balance back pressure i guess. would it be decent to mod test pipe / b pipe / cat back / y pipe and keep the oem muffler?

Yeah that's a good overall exhaust mod. WHen you get the b-pipe though make sure to keep a resonator otherwise it would be too loud with the y-pipe.
