I've have my Maxima since September and had my TCM replaced about two months ago since I was experiencing the "shift delay" from 1st to 2nd gear. I still have the "shift delay" but the shift is just rougher when I'm not reving high and sometimes the trans seems to hunt between gears. I've brake-tourqed a few times and I heard that it is very bad for your trans. Do you think I need a new transmission? I have been experiencing irregular shifting.

That is normal. The ECU learns how you drive and if you change from the way you normally drive to aggressive it will get confused. Sorry but its not instant, and many tranyns do get confused. Not just Nissans.

Let me add to what Russ said...

If you are driving at a speed at which its close to a shift point, your tranny will try the higher gear first and it might decide to go lower if needed. There might be a slight delay in shifting due to this process. For certain gears and speeds, I can predict how the car will shift.
