what was your 60' for the 14.73?

2.32 isnt really THAT bad. its probably in the okay but could be better range.

even with a good 60' (2.20) on this trip you probably wouldnt have gotten another 14.7. a 2.20 60' would have gotten you a 14.9 or maybe 14.8. maybe its not just the tires?

hmm maybe so it got slower or the track sucked that night. The 14.7 was with manual shifting also, tonight i just didnt do it, If I took 1st to 6500 it would have spun out, so I had to feather the gas at take off on "D" and let the trans do the rest.

with the 14.7 i had a 2.190 60'
with stock tires i've had 2.190-2.20 14.7-14.9

wow. those are some good 60's. looking at it now, maybe the slightly better 60' and the fact that you were manually shifting made up the difference. maybe it was just the tires afterall

yeah, man i gave up I was spinning so much it bounced revlimiter and spun into 2nd gear, and that was easing on the gas, i would roll till 10mph and floor it and lose grip, even with 28psi in the 50psi tires, some people at the track offered to help me saying stock 55-50 profiles would be better since i put alot to the wheel, and my 45 profiles dont help one bit, and that these tires trade off dry traction for wet traction, 3 guys at the track *USED* to have these tires and they dont anymore..... hmmm I wonder why

ANYBODY WANT TO BUY SOME 235-45-17 FALKEN ST-115 TIRES???????
$175 OBO FOR ALL 4 TIRES

Your times were 100% a reflection of your 2.3 60ft. What psi did you run in your tires? With a 2.1 you would be back to the times you ran previously.

28psi hot

I should have gone down to as low as 16psi

but after 4 runs of burning out, I didnt want to waste these tires, they're about 50% left now. with only 4K miles on em.

Maybe when I run next week I'll bring stockies and deflate em to around 20psi or lower, i didnt have a gauge that time so i just kept letting air out till i got faster times, this time I just couldnt hook up, most cars didnt hook up at all, Z06 and C5 vettes were pulling similar times.. Bad track day and tires.

Ya but at 105-113 mph

Go 20psi and avoid the burnout. I have experienced many street tires to get worse if to hot.

Im putting stock tires back on my car and go to the track again this thursday to see what I run since its going to be a cold night, I'll be deflating em to around 16psi, and play with different take off techniques.

you said it was 65deg. What was it last time with stock tires?

The cold may have been a factor with traction.

Anyway thanks for the review, as they were one brand of tire I was looking into.

so far this is my 3rd time, The first 2 times it was around 80 degrees and low 60's out, and had awesome traction with minor air release, and it was also in the daytime, (not if that does anything), and allowed me to TB at 1500 this time traction was abnormally horrible! Back when I ran on stock tires and right from the street to the track i could hook up perfectly, it has been 20,000 miles since I last went to the track, that night was my first time back in a year. My initial run with the car stock yielded 14.73 which is on video, and the car had 3,500 miles on it, the 2nd time I went I got a 14.6 with 5,000 miles, now this time, 15.1 with pegleg and massive wheel spin, I guess im used to peg-legging it ever since i've never had traction issues before

before it was around 77 degrees, and 65 degrees

What can I do to combat the traction issues with cold weather (if any?)

im going to try my stocks again and with lowered pressure like before, this time if i cant hook up, i'll practice all night, the night i ran 15.1 i stopped after 4 runs cause i didnt want to wait in line and was discouraged.

1st run = 16.1 NO GRIP
2nd run = 15.8 NO GRIP
3RD RUN = 15.25 rolled off the line eased throttle (2.45 60')
4th and final run = 15.108 (2.3 60 footer)

best 60' ever 2.190
avg 60' before this night, 2.201 (8 different passes, on different days)

I need to host video of my runs, i have various runs 14.7-14.9 runs and me walking a 15.2 sec prelude. from inside the cabin.
I"ve never gotten higher than a 15.2 before now, hope car isnt slower, I'll keep you guys posted!

yea, you win some then you lose some, hope its a better track day next week.

00 mustang GT's with IHE PCM etc werent getting better than 14.5's and C5 vettes werent breaking into the 13's. even with catbacks. It was a bad night for some especially a Civic SI turbo running `14.7;
