Feb issue of C/D have a small article on the 2K4 Maxima. They report the earth shattering news that the new Maxima will have at least 10 more horsepower than the 3.5 VQ in the current Altima putting it at least 255 hp. WOW can you believe that a maxima with 255 hp......of course not a word that the maxima has had this engine for 2 freaking year.......what else is new with the media and the 2K2/2K3 maxima...forgotten because of the cheap crappy altima

If you love your car, does it matter what other people think?

I use to own a 92 Sentra GXE before I bought my 2k2 Max. I love that car, it has never give me any big problems( Worest problem it gave me was a fail starter on my engine). Other people may think its just another crappy car, 1.6L (no power), some chipped paint in the rear bumper (ugly), body style not for everyone.

Now I have my Max, I love this car as much as I love my old Sentra. Probably even more!

So as long as you enjoy it, do you need other people's negative opinion change how you feel for the car?

I never said negative crap changed my feelings about my Max, however it irritates me that the media/some people have neglected to praise the 2K2/3 max for the great car it is.......

I was reading this this post and watching TECH TV and they showed the '04 Maxima driving down the road(kinda like a C&D road test).I am positive that KIA designed this car.Would you agree.

people like to look at pretty things and forget the ugly ones.... i've not seen one person outside this board as describing the 5th gen max as eyecandy. Most every article I've read on the max describes its styling as controversial, although I think what they're trying to say is that it's quite ugly.

Funny because I get more compliments on my 03 from outsiders way more than I did from the 97. You do get a lot of people looking at 5th gens especially 02/03's and wondering who knows what they are thinking good or bad. i think that the 02/03's will be highly regarded and wanted in the upcoming years much like the 92-94 maxima se's are.

Ditto! Actually, I went down stairs for a smoke at work today and I saw this car across the street. I was like "WOW! What a nice ride!". Yea, it was a 5th Gen Max Glad I have one at home in the garage!

I just came back from a long over due ride. Still fun to drive, smooth ride...very happy with my purchase.

People in High School ask what car I drive sometimes because I am always talking about cars or looking at cars on the computer in some classes. I say a Maxima, they say.."oh i like altimas better because they cost more and are faster" I get mad when they say this!
I just wish they knew 75% of the Altimas are the slower 4-cyl ones!
After I explain it to them, they seem confused and probably think I am talking bs.
