2002-2003 Hesitation
I need to have documented proof that others are suffering from this known problem. Nissan NA engineering says they have not heard of this problem, but a simple search on this board shows many complaints. Please provide any comments you feel comfortable with, I will be forwarding this to them.
Hesitation - under acceleration you feel a sudden dip and then return in the power. Also, you may feel an abrupt on/off throttle response that causes bucking.

I don't notice it so much anymore. I don't really know if tht is because I've just gotten use to it, or I've learned unconsciously how to avoid making it happen. Maybe the latter. It seemed to happen to me if I was cruising maybe in 2nd for example and accelerated quickly, wide open throttle, and shifted to 3rd. Gearing really didn't matter...it's just when I noticed it most, cause that is typically what gears I'm in when I'm pushing the car.
What is interesting is my wife drives an auto GLE. I've driven it and tried to replicate the "problem" in hers. Can't do it. I was surprised to see about half of those that responded with the problem were autos.
Quite honestly...I don't think it is a problem. Now the "bucking" sensation you describe...only had something like that when I had an 01 with the fuel-cut issue. There was a TSB and that problem was solved. I now have an 02 6spd, never a problem. Of course the 03 GLE has no problems at all. 2k miles on it and flawless. What a beautiful car...SOOO glad we got it when I saw pics of the 04. I thought I might have buyers remorse...not waiting for the 04 and imagining that it might actually be a better car. Well, perhaps mechanically it is improved, but aesthetically....ouch. Well, I've wandered off topic...anyway, hope my feedback helps!

Thanks all for your replies. Surprised to see how many Auto trans people have this.
Will let you know how this turns out. First they said they had not heard of the hesitation. Now they say that since other cars in addition to mine have what I call a problem, it confirms to them that it is just "normal". So it appears to me they are postioning themselves to deny any claims on this...

I Though i was the only one with this problem! My car hesitates quite frequently and i hate the fact that is brand new and i just have to take it to the dealer for them to say ah,,,, is ok now like with the catalytic converter it took me 3 visits for them to figure out the light on problem, i love my maxima BUT i will never buy another one i will get me a more reliable car, sorry but this car has a lot of problem i dont expect having from a new car starting with the HID's and this hesitation problem. i am taking my car next week to get it check i talked to the dealer and they said it might be my engine mounts!! oh... i dont know lets hope for the best!
