Stock Tire Replacement...what did you do?

I'm imagining that some of you are accumulating enough wear and tear on your stock Potenzas that you've had to replace your worn tires. I'm wondering what product you went with? I'm approaching 21k and I'm figuring I don't have a lot of mileage left on my OEM tires. Any of you replaced with something OTHER than B/S?

I'm not talking replacing the stock for some new wheel and tire combo..I'm talking putting another mainstream tire on the stock wheel. What is out there on the market and what serves as an improvement over stock is what I'm interested in. I sort of can't wait until it is time for new tires...I don't plan to put B/S Potenzas back on. I'm ready for a better feel for the road, that much is true.

Any comments?

oh, c'mon! there are tons of this info on the board.

As for me: Nitto 450's Extreme 225/50/17. about $115 a piece.

I ditto the last reply, have about 1100 miles on mine and love em. A great upgrade from stock 'Sucktenzas. They preform really well in the 100 feet of snow we have here in Mass.

Yes I would be curious to know what most are replacing the Slipstones with? From what I have researched it seems the Sumitomo would be the choice but how are they doing with the stock rims given their size is not 225/50/17? What are the Nitto's?

You would have a lot of support to go with Michelin Pilot A/S.

The Pilots are nice, but you need to own a mint to afford them.

fyi - my nissan service guy just got these in. in addition, i called a few places and they are just starting to get these readily available now. the problem was that the guy wanted $750 to get them installed and balanced. i laughed at him and he said that that was the best he could do.

ive heard great things about these tires!

I put the RE950's on my car and have loved every aspect about them, aside from driving in deep snow.

Before you consider tire selection, there are three questions you need to ask yourself if you're going to keep your OEM 7.0"-wide rims:

Question 1: Do I want to stay with the OEM tire size of 225/50R17? If yes, you've made your decision and you do not need to proceed further. If no, go on to Question 2.

Question 2: Do I want to remain in-spec? If yes, your reasonable alternatives are either a 235/50R17 or a 225/45R17. If no, go on to Question 3.

Question 3: How far out-of-spec am I willing to run? Most people who are running out-of-spec have selected 235/45R17s although I've seen some who are running 245/45R17s and even 235/40R17s. The primary reason to consider running out-of-spec is the wide selection of high-performance tires available in a 45 Aspect Ratio. CAUTION: If you're thinking about running out-of-spec, read RsMaxMaggie's post on Page 6 of the FAQs first.

FYI, here's what I did:
