Equus 3100 OBD-II Scan Tool Works Great !!!

My SE just threw a code and I wanted to find out what it was before I took it into the dealer. I noticed an ad in Parts for Sale for an Equus 3100 OBD-II Scan Tool. I decided to purchase one locally and it works GREAT! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

For more info on the scan tool, go here:

I agree with you that its a great product...I bought one to diagnose ignition coil problems on my dad's '99 GLE....I paid $135 from Summit Racing and ended up having to replace only 2 coils...I figure I'm waaaayyy ahead of the game....the dealer wanted to replace all 6 coils @ $80 a piece + a couple of hours of labor @ $86/hr....instead I get to keep the tool which also works on my '03SE

highly recommended

uh-oh...someone wants to run a straight pipe...

that's a neat thing to have among close friends...if you could pull some friend of yours then each person can just pay little to own this thing...besides, you won't need this everyday anywayz.

Yes. Of course, the CEL will come back on after awhile. But using the scan tool to clear it each time is a whole lot simpler and less aggravating than having to leave your battery disconnected for hours on end.

DTC P0138 . . . the infamous Bank 1 Rear O2 Sensor. Repairs are covered under TSB NTB01-016B. I called my dealer and they're ordering the sensor. It should be in next week.

Needless to say, I'm glad I didn't have to waste a trip to my dealership only to have them say that they didn't have the correct part in stock. That alone was worth the price of the scan tool.

Sounds like it is definitely worth the money. Aside from saving you a trip, it's also good amo against a crooked service department, that might try to pull a fast one on you.

Did you just know that code, or do you have a reference?

It's worth the money, all right. In combination with an Electronic Service Manual, it's all you need to diagnose any DTC the ECM can capture.

Check this out. The code reader comes with three (yes, that's THREE) Owner's Manuals . . . one printed in English, one in Spanish and one in French. As if that's not enough, the complete Owner's Manual is available on-line at:

http://www.iequus.com/manuals/3100E.pdf

The manuals contain a complete listing of generic (P0) DTC codes as well as manufacturer-specific (P1) codes for several manufacturers. Unfortunately, Nissan isn't among the manufacturers listed. But if you get a P1 code, just post it here and someone with an Electronic Service Manual can decipher it for you.

According to the manufacturer, the Scan Tool will work on any OBD-II equipped vehicle. You will not need to purchase any additional parts.
