question on intake and exhuast

After doing a little research, i think i will go with the Frankencar Intake with Apexi filter, on their site it claimed an almost 10 hp gain, which is pretty amazing for a short ram intake. What do you guys think? a better suggestion? (i have looked into, stillen, Injen and PR) Okay, the deal with the exhuast part; i want the car to be some what of a sleeper, so i defeintly want the orginal muffler on there. after the header the only thing i intented on getting is the cattman Y-pipe, which again claimed a 10-20 hp incrase. Now my question is, how many parts (names of the differnet pipes) are there from the header back? and what's realistic HP incrase from just the franken car intake and the y-pipe? 10-15?? for some reason i think those numbers are a little too high. One last quesiton, I think the main reason that that y pipe is capable of kicking up the HP is because it eliminates the 2nd cat, am i right? please correct me if i'm wrong! also, would i still be able to pass inspection with just the y-pipe modified?

thanks !!!!

Re: question on intake and exhuast

You wont get all that power you're promised. Just think of it as a gimic to boost sales..
If you have a manual, screw all the BS mods and just get a 75shot of nitrous..
You can worry about all the other mods after b/c they'll be a requirement instead....

Yes you will pass inspection with the y-pipe.

the franken with an apexi is a good choice. i assume you have a 2k-2k1 if youre talking about getting a y pipe. on those years, it does eliminate the second pre cat. on 4th gens, it takes out both. ive seen dynos of whatever intake and y pipe put anywhere from 15 to just north of 20hp to the wheels over stock. the y pipe being the biggest part. you wont have any trouble passing inspection, just make sure the car is warmed up before you take it. after the y pipe, you can replace the cat if you want, it wont do much though, maybe 1-2hp. then the b pipe can be swapped for one with the crimp and without a resonator if you choose. anywhere from 3-5hp. im planning on getting a b pipe then ill be done with my exhaust, i too am sticking with the stock muffler.
