cleaning door panels

Hey guys,
Quick question for ya....What do you use to clean off the shoe scuff marks on the door panels? Should I just use Vinylex or Lexol leather cleaner? These things are really annoying, and during winter especially, happen pretty frequently.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Also, how often should I polish the car? Every time I wash it or only when I have scratches on it?

Thanks all.

Try a pencil eraser, from a #2 pencil. It's pretty effective at getting most of them out. The really bad ones stump me though.

Most likely don't need to use leather cleaner since the door panels are vinyl...

perhaps something like this?

Hey jjs,
Have you actually tried this product, or just saw it and think it would work?

I obviously did a seach on this before I posted, but nobody seemed to mention anything about cleaning door panels.

Also, Vinylex (made by Lexol) is for vinyl, so has anybody used this with success?

Thanks guys/gals

I have used it for some surfaces in my Ram with pretty good success. Have not had a need in the Max yet (black/charc. interior hides alot, except dust).

I have purchased this and other products from these people and all have worked as advertised, at least for what I needed.

if your talking about the plastic at the bottom of the door panels, try the eraser, or you can get dishwashing soap and a toothbrush.

i've taken a few of the plastic pieces from the car and washed them to get scuff marks and oil and dirt off.

to answer your other question about polishing, you do not need to do it after every washing, unless you are using non-carwash soap. are you just polishing and not waxing??

Hey vic,
Two questions--(1) does the toothbrush/soap combo scratch up the panel at all due to the bristles? Are you using soft/medium/hard bristles? Is the panel vinyl or plastic? Cause if it's vinyl, I may try Vexol for it, (2) I plan on waxing after every full wash (i.e. not when I'm just rinsing with a high-pressure hose, such as during cold winter days), but everything I've read on this board thus far suggests that you have to polish after you wash, but before you wax. Is this so, or can I just wash and wax? When is polishing best to be done?

Thanks.

I use this product. It's not made directly for it but its awesome at removing ground in scuffs. sr-97. You can find it at those as seen on TV shops in big malls.
