just got the sumitomo htr+ put on baby ... 215/50/17. could tell there was a BIG difference in the first on-ramp.

they look NICE and AGGRESSIVE (and had just enough snow/wet on the ground to test em a bit).

they are a bit narrower, but i like the look, its real streamlined with the wheel now.

ill let ya know the status w/ a bit more miles on them.

cheers -

Nice, I am getting mine installed tomorrow. Relative to the crapenza's, what is the road comfort like?

hahhaa, 2k2 GLE maj blue here...not on the highways much. there are much fewer maximas up in mass than there back home on long island - i like it that way though.

TireRack.com rates these right below the Pilot A/S.

They're only $89 each! So, are they a half-as-expensive alternative to the Pilot A/S? They don't come in the stock 225 width, just 215...

I'd like to see a pic of a 215's (to see how the sidewall looks)

I actually upgraded from GLE 16's (215/55/16) so my speedo would be back in spec with 215/50/17.

maxedout and young4 - lets do it!

* as for $$, it was a bit more on the expensive side, but it was a LONG story better told after a few beers. tirerack is $90/tire ($360 total), $40 for shipping, and $20/tire to mount/balance = $480 or there abouts. mine were $550 mounted, balanced, and lifetime warranty ... plus i had it done @ sullivan tire (which i take some comfort in since i can go anywhere anytime and theyll rotate etc for free).

* road noise - tough to tell right now, probably eaqual but grip was WAY better

* "coolness" - the car has lost some of that "grocery-getter" look in the wheels area since the tires are more flush w/ the wheels. HOWEVER ill be a bit more careful when parallell parking since ive lost just a bit of extra "backup" padding when i hit the curbs.

* hang on baby, this car can actually corner now - man, these tires "locked in" when i took the off ramp hard. really just beared down and felt like the car was turning in a groove on the offramp, what a difference!

* road noise - sounds fine ... not much more/less noticeable (then again i usually have the stereo at 20 or so)

cheers -

I just installed my htr+ and while I have not been on the highway yet, I can tell right away that it is a different car! I wish that I did this sooner!

thanks for the pics.. those dont look out of place at all. I can hardly tell. Price + being in spec and all, those are pretty compelling...

curb rash? where? seriously! u see something in the pics i dont?

also - they are slightly below the load rating (91 vs. 93) but i think that is a lot better off then being 1" too wide on the tire/wheel side.

Hey Jerome
I thought I was the only one terrorizing those roads! You've got to love the 495 north to 290 west ramp. I've lost some rubber on that stretch of asphalt.

Cold up here huh? Let us know how the new sneakers handle the snow...

Peace.

actually you caught a good shot of the wheel flaking i had been talking about ...

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=174213

it is being replaced by nissan.

fyi - i used to live in hudson ... so i know the 290 exit off of 495 all too well! of course, i had an A4 then so i used to take it at 75, now its moderate at around 60!

cheers -
