SuperSyn is the latest formulation of Mobil 1. It was created to meet the newer API SL specs and is by far, light years ahead of tri-synthetic. Tri-Syn has been pahsed out and it should be harder and harder to find it. Even if you could, SuperSyn would be the better choice as far as Mobil 1 is concerned.

Super Syn has a new additive designed to make up for the lack of ZDDP in newer oil formaulations that have to meet API SJ and SL.

Also the base oils seem to be very good.

The 30 weights (0w-30,5w-30, 10w-30) are still a bit on the thin side for their rated viscosity just like the trisyns used to be.

Most PPL agree that the trisyn was a step down, from their previous formulation.

Their 0w-40 is the MOBIL1 SS I would run, currently am on SynPower 5w-40 but my next car will be lower miles so the MOBIL1 (lower in detergents than Valvoline SynPower) will be a better choice.
