I just just spent 3 days on a biz trip driving various domestic and import cars... OMG.. my maxima is a dream, even with those service problems... and these are brand new cars. thats all it takes, 10 mins in a GM car or even some other imports. I gotta go downstairs and plant a big wet kiss on my hood.... mmmmmm, tastes like road salt...

No kidding...as unhappy I am with the ride generated from the Potenzas on my shiny new 2K1 AE SE, I love the car...I can deal with the tires...(working on it right now). I've driven those rentals...Mazda 626, Taurus, Sable, Explorer, Minivans...wouldn't have any of them! The only car I'd go back to is my '93 SE!

Enjoy!

I agree 100% - it's easy to be picky until you try the rest!
BUT>>>> don't drive a BMW. I drove some at track days and will never be the same - now my maxima is only the best of the rest!

Hehe...I know how you feel....I had a Chevy Malibu as a rental when I was in San Jose a few months ago. That had to be the most beat -up POS rental car that they had and it had only 20000 miles on it. I can't tell you how many things it had wrong with it. When I got back and drove the Max again.....it was unbelievable

Dave, I agree with the BMW opinion. I am even debating getting a 1995 540i sport to go along with my Max. The only thing that disturbs me about the BMW is the people I know that own BMWs. They are in the shop for some sort of electrical problem all the time. So I am torn, a 282hp, rear drive, 6-speed, 4-door is very tempting.

Bimmers...

I agree too with the BMW opinion. I own a 2001 325i, 1989 525i, and a 1997 Supercharged Dinan 540i. All of them have no problems except for the expensive maintanance costs! The 1995 540i Sport is the next best thing to a M5, because it is also very exclusive. You are very lucky to find one!

Heh

Well.....I have a love/hate relationship with the car.....I detest having to consistently be going to the dealer to fix all these "minor" problems. Really bugs me...love the power and looks but all the other stuff is really ruining it for me.

I guess you'd have to compare it to a comparable car...my last 2 rentals were a 2000 Neon (how can this be called a car?) and a 1999 Monte Carlo LS. I actually enjoyed the Monte..very comfortable, smooth ride and want that bad on the power side.....that being said I know it would probably be in the shop a bit...then again every maker makes bombs and sub par cars. I have some friends who have Dodge Stratus's that run great...no problems at all after 2 1/2 years...I kid you not! Amazing

I did drive my friends 2001 Passat 5Spd wagon the other day...nice car! I know VW's take some heat as being shoddy but this thing is solid...no squeaks, rattles, awesome leather interior and a strong V6 engine....I really liked it

I always appreciate my car more after driving other cars. Luckily I haven't driven a BMW or Mercedes in a long time.
