Ok.
First of all, I love my Max.
But the way she treats me lately makes me want to trade my car.

Frist thing.
When I make a turn where I have to turn the steering wheel all the way something squeaks loud.
Not really a squeak, more like something is tight and its grinding.

Second thing.
When I accelerate, Slow or fast.
The tranny shifts really really hard to second.
So hard that my cds skip.

Can someone diagnose my problem and help me b4 i go to the dealer.
I want them to fix these things right.

If I get my car back and the tranny is still like this and the car still grinds, I'm getting a new car.

BTW I have gotten my tcm replaced twice, and my rotors replaced.

Man...you guys are scaring me with all these stories about weird, quirky problems with the Y2K max's. Are these just first year production glitches, or what? I've had my 01 for a month now, with 1800 miles. My only complaint is the tires (potenzas by Bridgestone). You shouldn't be having these kinds of problems, obviously. Sure these things are warranty things...but what hassle, and what confidence destroyers in the car. Don't know what to say other than I hope your dealer gets the bugs worked out. I hate to think Nissan quality is going the way of some of our domestic brands!

The steering thing may be something minor. If it only happens when you turn the wheel all the way, it may just be the stops that prevent the wheel from turning further have worn or something.

The tranny shifting hard could be several things. For that, you need the dealer's diagnosis.

What's up yongjun.......

... since you have had your TCM replaced twice tell the dealer you want a district or regional service manager to look at the car maybe you might get better results.

wha?

two TCMs? thats odd.. I think I need another too. my tranny is freakish since getting the new TCM. The grinding noise is prolly a spring thing. they will prolly spray some lube on it and send it out the door.

Someone here (maybe 5th gen forum) posted similar eperiences with a grinding noise when they turned the wheel all the way to one side...

After they took it to the dealer, it did turn out that the stops had worn out... Minor prob. if your car is under warrenty... (which i would imagine it is..., unless you manged to get 36,000 miles on it.!!)
