Clear Side Markers

Hi,

I have had clears for a few weeks now (in a box that is), and I am excited to put them on. I wanted to know if the current stock bulbs will be good enough for the clears, or should I get something else. Also, I live in New York, so is there anything I should or shouldn't do to avoid being pulled over?

I appreciate all your help!!

Thanks!!

I'd say that you should either get a new set of red bulbs for the rears (and amber for fronts if they didn't already come with them) if you want to keep the colors. Otherwise, get some PIAA super plasma or xtreme white, or polarg white bulbs if you want that look...the stock clear bulbs produce yellow light.

As for getting pulled over, I couldn't tell ya, but it would be more likely that a fine for them would be added on to whatever you got pulled over for, rather than getting pulled over for them in the first place. I'm in Massachusetts, and had mine on for months (with amber and red bulbs in front/rear), and never had any problems until I went for an inspection sticker a few weeks ago...had to put OEM lenses on to pass...

Go Stock

If I were you i would get amber up front and red in back. As for which bulb try doing a search since there is about a thousand mentions of the same topic. I have amber LED's in front and when my rear clears come in im going with red LED's in the back. They are brighter then the bulbs it comes with and supposedly last alot longer. A .org member by the name of PMAS76 has a good write up on his homepage on how to get them in if you need that. Happy Modding!!!

I took the bulbs out altogether. If I ever want to put em back, easy to do, but nothing requires you to have lights on the sides

hey, i have clear corners on my car with piaa hyperplasma wedge bulbs in front and back (nice bright white color). i live in new york, but i go to school in boston. i haven't had anyone pull me over yet in either state or anywhere in between. but they probably are against the law. i have a whole story planned in case i do:

i keep the OEM markers in my trunk...if i ever get pulled over, "officer, i'm so sorry, i didn't know...my friend put them in for me just the other day (or week if my car is dirty)...actually, come to think of it, i still have the original ones in my trunk - i can switch them out right now as you watch"...hopefully, with a little more obsequiousness, that'll fly

Hi,

Thanks guys!!

Actually, I wouldn't mind having no bulbs there, that would look fine to me. But would I be in trouble for doing that in New York?

Thanks

Hope this doesn't sound like I'm an a**, but why don't you call your local police department or state police barracks and ask them?

I'd hate for you to get a ticket for this and your only defense is, "But officer, my friends on the internet told me I could."

Make sure before you install to run some silicone around the edge where the lense connects to the housing. Clear corners have a tendency to get moisture in them and fog up. The silicone alleviates this problem. 24 hour cure time on the silicone.

correct me if i am wrong. i am not 100% sure on the exact wording of the law, but you are required to have a light visible on the side ove your vehicle... the reason why most other cars don't have the side marker lenses on their bumbers is b/c their headlights/taillights wrap around to the side of the vehicle. so yes i believe you do need bulbs in your lenses, but if you haven't been pulled over or told anything keep it how you like it. as for me when i get my clear lenses i will use hyper white bulbs. PEACE!

Actually the law in most states (california for sure) is the side markers be reflective, they don't necessarily need bulbs. BUT, they do the correct color.
