Reverse Indiglo install problems

Just got a set of these for my 2k2 and thanks for all the write ups on how to install, however i'm stuck trying to:

1. Pull off the three plugs behind the gauge cluster
2. Pull off the 4 needle stops
3. Pulling this gauge cluster on top of the existing one.

I couldn't find a way to pull those plugs off from the rear of the gauge cluster; 2 brown and one white. Second those needle stops seem to be a part of the existing cluster face. They look very delicate and how do you remove them? I tryed but stopped due to their fragile state. And lastly do the gauge needles come off so that I can just lay this new gauge face on top? I got as far as removing the cluster away from dash but couldn't remove the three rear plugs. Any insite or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

I don't know about the needle stops, I have never touched those. But the plugs in the back should be able to be removed. There is a latch on each of them that you have to push down. I usually just use a screwdrive, flat head or philips work fine. But yeah push the latch down on the connector and it should come out. Some of them can be stiff though so a little tugging is necessary.

But yeah the needle stops?? I don't know. I wouldn't think you would have to touch the needles and that you could slide it over, but I don't know. Oh and to get the plastic cover off the gauge assembly there are just clips around the whole thing.

Good luck!

Re: Reverse Indiglo install problems

yup use the flathead screwdriver to remove those plugs is a lot easier if you dont want to break your nails.

and the needle stops, yeah you can slide the gauge face in without removing them if you want, but i was afraid of to break them and scratch the back of the gauge face, so i remove them first. it made the sliding process a lot quicker and easier.

and i dont think you can remove the needles. if you can, then the process is super easy!

Good luck!!

How did you remove them? They seem to be a part of the original gauge face. They are also very flimsy and if I broke one can I get neddle stops, or do I have to buy a new gauge face with stops in them? Thanks skyjay617

I just installed the reverse indiglo gauges in my 96 max.. the stops are not that bad as long as you take your time. i didnt take them off

all is good except the rpm gauge sticks and will not go past 4000 rpm and when comming down it sticks at around 1500 - 1000 just on that gauge..

i used double sided sticky tape to keep them on top of the old guage but its very thing so i dont thing that is causing it...

Any ideas

also were is the best place to place the dial i just have it haning in side the fuse compartment for right now

Finally got these gauges installed

Well I searched the net and got Matt from intelliglow to do the install for me and I'm glad he did it, after 3 attempts myself. He installed my reverse indiglo kit plus his glow gauges and the look is awesome. I however do not like the look of the indiglos. The gauges and the needles are extremely bright. The full white gauges during the day or ok but not the look I'm after. But for $27 for the gauges on Ebay what the heck. I can remove them when the moment strikes me. One problem with the needles now is that when the temp drops the needles stick but after the car warms up they start to move again. I've read on other posts that this glow needle issue is a problem. It's a home made job but very creative on intelliglows part. There is no science to putting this kit together its just a very time consuming and delicate proceedure to do. Double sided tape is a must and a gentle approach to the gauge cluster and this sticking issue with the needles should be fixed. All in all a great looking mod if thats what your going for. Buy the way I also put the dials in the fuse box till I figure were to put them. I have 2 one for the reverse gauges and the second one for the needles.
