I get the same smell too when I drive the car hard.

I possibly have some clutch problems that might need to get checked out. Once that is resolved I will be ready for round 2 (in dry weather).

1. Don't zoom too much; it looks like the car that you are in is going faster.
2. Show the speedo and tach a little more
Other than that, it was GREAT work!

I can't explain that last vid. I guess i just got walked, or he got the jump. Like i said, one slip up and i'll loose against Pioneer.
It was all out of fun. No excuses, and no reason to debate this topic any longer by saying "what if the 2k2+ had mods?".
Yes, the 2k has the stock B pipe. It would've been worst if had an aftermarket one.
An auto 2k2+ stock would've lost to Pioneer's car in my opinion. Still not by much though, but still would've lost.
After we figure out what is up with the clutch in the 2k2, we'll try to run it against my stock 2k3 because he has an intake. Should be interesting.
Nobody answered this. At what RPM should i be shifting? I shift at 6000rpm. Should i go to right before redline? Or is that good enough?

Last video we started even, and I just left him.
John, I see what you are doing wrong, Look at the 2nd video closely when we start, your RPM is jumping around 2000-2500, Which tells me you are dropping the clutch when we take off.. I think thats where you burning smell and bad launch is coming from.
I shifted my 5spd right at 66-6700.. I know redline is 6600 but if you are careful, you can actually go past it before the ECU realizes
He Just cheated me
and puts the Smak down. but you have to be quick and beat the computer.

Not all are off, mine bounces the limiter at 6700 on the tach. Easies way to tell is floor it in second in the wet,(doesn't hop) and it will sit there at 6700. Hit it a few times just racing too, I have to shift at indicated redline or it falls on its face at limit.
I also think that if that 2K3 was shifting at 6000 he left a little on the table out there.....
The 2k2-2k3 tach is off by 500rpm up top, you'll notice that you can run it to almost 7000 on the tach without hitting the rev limiter. I shift mine at a tach indicated 6900rpm when racing, keeps the car in it's powerband.
I also think that if that 2K3 was shifting at 6000 he left a little on the table out there.....

Guys, You can look at it from all angles you want.. end results 2 6speeds, 3 races, 2 Lost...
You are missing the point, In my original post I said this was to show that you just can't knock on the 5spds like people have been talking. OOOOO there is no way a 5spd can keep up with the stock 6speed no matter what mod is on the 5spd.. Minus S/C, Turbo, NOS. Now here is your proof !!! Suck it up and stop whining like babies..
6spd is not a slow car, I like it, but I also like my car. I "KNOW" it will be a faster car after mods, but Thats not the point. The point here is, A Modded 5spd can Hold its own with a Stock 6spd.....

I hit the rev limiter once before (not in these races), and my tach is not off because i hit the limiter around 6700 as well. Looking at the dynos of our cars, i know that going to redline wouldn't have helped much because at 6000rpm our powerband drops so it wouldn't have helped the situation; the 3.0 has a stronger top end anyway. But, if i guess i'll run her to 6000rpm in future races.

Yes power drops off after 6000 but its pulling harder still at 6500 then it does shifting to the next gear and having the rpm drop. Its making more power in 4th at 5000 than it does at 4400 doesn't it? Thats what shifting early does...gets you less pull at the bottom of the next gear.

I've been waiting to run a 2k2/2k3 at highway speeds but have just never found one. I suspected that a modded 2k/2k1 5spd should at least hang with a STOCK 2k2/2k3 from a high speed roll.
The better race to run for the 2k/2k1 would probably be from 80 - 130. 60, IMO, tends to be too low in 3rd or too high in 2nd to give the best advantage.
I always try to run on the highway from 3rd around 80.
Interestingly, in that race a bolt-on modded 4th gen will hang until probably 110 or so if you run from 60 - then the 2k should pull slowly.
MaxFreak98 and I have run NUMEROUS times from 60 both will all the bolt ons and I can't pull on him until high in 4th. I've got a bit of an advantage starting at 80 because of gearing and vias.

power starts at idle and goes up to 6000 or so. It doesnt appear at 4000......It makes more at 3500 than it does at 3000 amd more at 4500 than it does at 4300. the higher you go up to 6000 the more it makes. Notice how a dyno graph is a hill to max power.

Oh yeah, my car does have those Heavy rims/tires. I'm running 255/40 in the rear, and my fronts are cheap tires with no grip, I'll be a good race when I have some more money to spend on my car.
Oh yeah, the My Nephew has a 2002 Auto SE, NO Chance...... 0-120 I was 3 cars ahead of him.. his car is stock..

All the NC guys, keep us posted on the Next meet. I May or Maynot run my car at the track. My Maxima is my driveway Queen, I only drive it when I break a part on the supra, which is about every 2 weeks or so
.. I havn't taken my car that fast in Months.
I have raced a Auto before, I'll race from a Stop next time I take the car out. Right now its back in the driveway resting

Just curious as to why we rarely if ever see any timeslips of 5-speeds in the low 14's. Isn't there a video of emax taking a supercharged maxima in his 6-speed? I'm not trying to knock the 5-speed, but either your car is freakishly strong with its mods, or you were running on fumes and the 02 6-speed had a full tank, a really fat guy driving, and 120lbs worth of speakers in the trunk. I've never had any problem with AE's against my stock 6-speed, but those have been from a stop. I assume from a stop, if the 6-speed driver knows what he is doing, you are going to have a hard time making up for the monstrous torque advantage. That being said, nice run, even though it was in the rain on a populated highway. But I am sure that white car that you passed at 120 didn't mind you guys putting his life in jeopardy so you could make some ricey video. Take it to the track fellas.

Mama told me, if you got nothing nice to say, Keep your mouth shut
Nice videos
But in the wet? you guys are craaaazzy
This proves that a modded 00-01 5spd will hang with the 3.5's on the highway, and it's not that hard, either.
Stock 3.5L: 200-205 fwhp
Stock DE-K: 185 fwhp
So all you need is an intake, and y-pipe to make up the 20 fwhp difference. 00-01's = highway beasts.
The low/mid-range torque will still have the 3.5's out in front for the 1/4 mile and around town, but on the highway all that matters is top-end, so that's why PIONEER was able to lay some smack down.
