2001 vs 2002
I know that the 02 03 has the VQ35DE with 255, which runs a 60 in 6 flat and crosses the quater at mid 14's (with the 6 speed). The 00-01 does the 60 in 6.7ish and early to mid 15's with the (5 speed, 3.0 liter 222hp). Now my question is how many mods (and what are they) u think i need on the 00-01 (5 speed) so i can catch up with the 02-03? 33 hp difference and a better gearing ratio.
any comments or anyone have done it already to their 00's and 01's so they can run with the VQ35DE maxima?

One way that might come close is this:
1. Frankencar intake with apxi filter
2. Cattman Y-pipe
3. New pullies
with these i think we are talking about 15 to 20 hp......

<<<<<Another post in here showed a 3.0 with those mods keep up just fine with the 3.5...I'm not sure if he had anything else...so it doesn't take much, oh and you don't have to worry about your HID's getting ripped off.>>>>
what do you mean by your HID's getting ripped off?
thx man!

"The lights on the 2k2+ are High Intensity Discharge
Maxima's new camera-lens-style headlights are High Intensity Discharge Xenon. They're 150% as bright as traditional halogen bulbs, emitting a beam that's closer to natural sunlight to give you an improved view of the world around you. They're also more visible to other drivers, which helps you avoid accidents."
These lights are stolen often and sold on Ebay. Do as search on stolen HID's.
As far as comparing the engine of a 2K1 to a 2K2, that topic has been discussed to death. The 3.5 is more powerful than a modded 3.0. However, on the highway, a modded (Y-pipe) 3.0 and a 3.5 (stock) are close.

If you are talking 1/4 mile times - with the bolt ons in my sig, it's pretty easy to run mid-high 14s around 94-95mph.
But I'll tell you this, the key is learning to launch the damn car.
If you can launch a stock 2k1 and get 2.0-2.1 60ft times, shift just at redline, the 2k1 should run under 15. no problem stock.

The 3.0 horsepower peaks at a higher rpm. (6400 vs. 5800) virtually the entire rev band is usable in the 3.0.
