Frankencar install problems.....Help me out.
Ok not really install problems...but just some problems in general. I recieved my frankencar today and started my install and noticed i only had ONE rubber coupler. Well the intake requires TWO. Well i said what the hell and bolted the filter up to the MAF...so i have a popcharger type intake for now. And while i had the MAF unit off i decided to test the fit of the coupler onto the unit...and HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU GET THE COUPLER ONTO THE MAF??? IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE, but i mean i know its not because so many peeps on this site have the Frankencar intake. But my other problem is trying to get steve at frankencar to respond to my emails/IMs about my missing coupler. I went EVERYWHERE to look for one or something similar and came up with nothing. I waited like a month and almost a week for my intake and still cant install it because i dont have the other coupler! And how long do you think it will take frankencar to send me another one?? or do you guys know of anywhere that i can pick one up??
thanks,
Matt

Re: Frankencar install problems.....Help me out.
U just have to use some force and first put one side in and twist it a little untill the whole thing is on. If that dont work I would heat it up a little. Just play around with it and u should be ok.

So can anyone help me??
Where can i pick up another rubber coupler?? Or better yet go ahead and get the silicone ones?? I tried Advanced Auto and Border Motorsports earlier and a couple really wierd places (like a transfer truck repair place [dont ask, i was told to go there and see because they supposedly would be able to help me out] and Lowes...) Ok heres what i have to choose from...
1. Wait for Frankencar to send me another one, IF he will even reply to my emails and stuff.
2. I can go to one of these places: Autozone, Napa, Carquest, Pep Boys, Radicals (a small performance shop about 30 minutes away)...and thats about all around here and Pep Boys is an hour away.
So where should i start??
thanks again,
Matt

I used Napa hoses because I was a ***** and tried to paint the ones that came with it.. They sell a 4" piece with a flex section that is AWESOME! They are $15/each, but I had to do it because I needed my intake to flex down an inch because of my nitrous solenoids.
To get the coupler onto the MAF, first heat up the rubber coupler in the oven at about 150 degrees or so. Then take vaseline or chapstick and lube it up the MAF (NOT the sensor itself obviously) a bit. It will work.

Hey 2k1maxgle. You need some couplers??? I have two brand new black rubber couplers that had came with my FrankenCar intake when I had bought it. I've since upgraded to the new silicone couplers that he has available now. If you would like them let me know. Give me a reasonable offer.

I just got my frankencar in the mail today too. I installed tonight and the directions are not very good. Im not sure still exactly how it even fits but this is how i did it. I put the coupler that has the small and biggen end on the tb. then i put the midpipe on. after that is hooked to midepipe to the MAF, then the adapter, then another coupler. Finally the apexi filter. I took it for a test run right after install and one thing i would have to say about it is it is LOUD!! It has a nice growl to it. I like it so far a lot im just not sure if my install was correct.

Oh, and Pep Boys, Checker and Auto Zone do not carry 4" hose. Napa is your only hope.
