To All Autos

HOW DOES YOUR AUTO SHIFT? Mine is a 2000 gxe it has a udp and frankencar. I just did a tranny flush and put amsoil ATF in. My auto seems to hit the redline then wait for half a second then shift really hard, this is at WOT. I mean like the tire spin for a second at the shift. How come the maxima waits a second then shifts not just shifting when it hit redline? This was not really noticeable until i installed the frankencar, because it was mainly a tone thing not visual, then today i watched it. It is kinda wierd just wondering if you guys had the same thing.

well with mine it runs to redline then its shifts to second one time>>> smooth >>>... so maybe u should have to dealer check it out if its still under warrenty. With my old tranny it ran to the red then kicked hard coming out of first... i had my tranny replace at 52k so have them check it out if you have a problem with how the car is shifting.....

The tranny runs great! This is the best way i can descirbe what is going on. If im from a stop and i accelerate hard then punch it , the car goes to about 6,000 rpm then creaps to 6,400 real fairly slow then a hard shift. We are talkin about 1/4 to 1/2 a second between 6,000 and 6,400. Im probably not losing that much time but just curious why not a shift right away? Thanks

If someone had a frankencar I think they could relate to me better. The intake has differnet tones throughout the acceleration stage. Im saying that at the top end it keeps basically the same tone. The tranny shift is hard and fast so i dont really think it is slipping. I'm just sayying it is weird how it keeps the same tone. I'm sorry about the first post where i said it holds at redline then shifts. I just want to know how you guy would describe your shift. Thanks for the replys

i have a jim wolf/frankentake on my max and yes it keeps that tone all the way to redline so don't be worried about it just look at the other peoples facial expressions when the intake is howling and that will ease your mind about things btw if your tranny does seem to "hesitate" before it shifts into second lify your foot to about 1/2 trottle and then mash back down on the gas..it will get it to shift faster and smoother(better).

cool thanks for the reply, i wasn't sure. The Frankencar is mean! It is so tight when im cruise about 40 then punch it. It is by far the best intake i have heard. I had a intake kit on my dodge 5.9l ram and this sound way better and louder!

TSB

Get it done ASAP. Mine did the same thing. I brought the TSB in and they did it no problem. One catch though, it has to be under the 3 year 36000 warranty. My car shifts beautifly now with no hesitation.

I don't know. I am almost positive that all TSB's are only covered during the 3 year 36k Manufacturer's bumber to bumper warranty. However, I just read a post that a guy got his ignition coils TSB done under his extended warranty. He had to pay only $25.

I assume you are talking about the coils? Search under the TSB thread near the top of the threads in this forum. Kev has all of the TSB's on like three pages. This should help. I also got my rotors re-surfaced because they were warped. They put on new pads as well--all covered under warranty. Next is the wind noise TSB

Mine used to shift fine before I added more hp with exhaust and intake. Now it goes to the revlimiter before it shifts. It also shifts slower when it reaches this much rpm. If there is a TSB I would like to know too.

As poorly as this transmisson shifts now I would probably run better times with less hp. I will probably put my stock Y pipe or intake back on just to make the tranny shift properly.

They might not honor the TSB because of the mods you have done on the vehicle

I doubt the mods he has will cause an issue with Nissan honoring the repair. The question is whether he is over the 3/36 warranty or not. If he has the extended drivetrain warranty, this should be a non-issue since the problem is a mechanical one within the tranny.

im pretty sure the TCM in the tranny needs to be replaced thats what the TSB covers... Personaly i dont think nissan is doing a great job on the new on either @ 35K I had the TSB done and this past weekend at 89k i have to get it done again, luckly i know the owner of the dealership real well and he changed it personly and covered it under my 100k warrenty.
