Mass Airflow Sensor

OK.. I know I am new here, but here goes. Took my 2000 maxima in 2 days ago, the MIL was on. They claimed they couldnt find anything currently wrong, but it gave them 2 codes, both Fuel System Lean codes (0171 & 0174). I took it home, light came back on last night. I took it in today, and they are claiming the MAF sensor needs replaced now (681.77). This seems a little strange, any advice?

not strange

search the site - the MAF failure is pretty common. I think there was a TSB for it.

Search the site - apparently the actual sensor can be purchased for as little as $70 dollars and it is a very simple repair.

The people on here are excellent - they have done almost everything you can do to a car and have experienced and solved almost every known problem with the 5th gen Maxima.

good luck

Re: Mass Airflow Sensor

Clean the MAF. Or, replace it if need be.

You can clean a MAF and not have to replace it? Oh joy if this is true....
