Anyone install a K&N filter intake?
Anyone install a K&N filter intake?
Need some pointers for removing old intake and installing new K&N filter with a bracket that the filter is on and a bar. Please help or direct me to a how to page. Thanks.
www.frankencar.com and make sure to get the Apexi dry filter. We have wussy MAF's and the K&N oil wetted gauze filters can screw them up.

33,000 miles on a K&N drop in, already self-serviced once...

NO PROBLEMS.

Ok, maybe I should have put it another way. Most of the people here on the org that have had blown MAF's use K&N filters. When they take the cars to the Dealers, most of them were not replaced under warranty because the Nissan Techs said it was caused by the oil. While K&N may very well be correct, there is an old adagy:
I can't make you, but I can make you wish you had!

as can be seen, there is often an EQUAL number of MAF's that take a nosedive with NO change in filtration choice.

You're right, of course. The filtering material used in the Apexi air filter cannot be cleaned. So the Apexi filter is expensive, requires additional hardware to mount, and has to be replaced every time it gets dirty . . . the best of all possible worlds.
I digress. My personal preference is the Apexi. It's a better made filter, but it does cost for that craftsmanship. It filters much better. It adds a couple of extra ponies which truly don't amount to much.
