OEM Dash Kit removal

I have the OEM wood dash kit on my max. Now I want to get the aluminum dash kit. My question is: How do you install the new kit? Do I have to remove the OEM wood kit? If so how do you do this? Or do you just install the new kit over the OEM one??

i saw my buddd do it, he runs a shop. he charged the guy a arm and a leg for it. it has to be removed, heat gun and patience. then some more heat and goo off.then some more delicate cleaning. then you have to prep the surface again and then apply the new dash kit. Get it done professionally, its not worth all the effort.

Why not just put the new on top of it? If your car has the factory wood trim then I'm almost positive you can just put the kit on top of that.

I thought the OEM wood was woodgrain molded plastic as opposed to a stick-on kit??

The only thing is if you will be able to see the factory wood trim underneath and if it will fit right.

Then get a kit that covers all the wood parts. Dash kits are made to be stuck on to the OEM interior. Unless you put a wood dash kit in yourself, I dont see the problem.
