3D Mark 2003 and other stuff

My buddy just opened a website with free, no registration of the newest patches and utilites for pc gamers etc. The website is http://www.lighthousefiles.com .

To keep this on topic, I got new tires for the winter and we've had a lot of snow and they are worse than the potenza's. They are rated 8/10 for snow from BFG but they're horrible. I do not recommend the BFGoodrich Comp T/A KDWS tires.

no need for shouting. there are a lot of people on here that play video games and I was offering a new website to download the patches and utilities that they need. if you're not a gamer, I apologize for wasting your time, but it did say what it was about in the title (3D Mark 2003 is available as a free download).

I'm not sure which Comp T/A's you have ( No Comp series KDWS tires listed on their website ), but compared to the RE92's I found the Comp ZR's to be an excellant dry/wet tire. I will probably put a set of 225-45-17 Comp ZR's on the Max when I finally wear out these crappy RE92's.....

Interesting 'cuz TireRack rates them above the RE-92's (not that just about ANY tire could do that). They are still rather low in survey results for snow compared to other conditions...

Snow tires in general are pretty weird. I would have though they all would have wide tread patterns to help throw the snow off the tire when it starts to spin, thus allowing for more traction. Tires like the Blizzark and such have small grooves which, to me, would seem to allow snow to pack in and deminish traction.

The whole idea is NOT to throw snow off but to actually hold onto it. In doing so, the friction of the snow/ice particles on the tire and those on the road is such that traction is actually higher than without this situation. Make two snowballs. Rub one against your hand...not much friction. Now rub them against each other...it would surprise you how much they 'bite' into each other.

That's a very good point and I had not thought of that before. Of course, even that kinda goes out the window when you touch the gas and the car immediately spins the tires like mad. It is interesting that I had better traction in my previous 5sp with the Comp ZR's than I have with the RE92's which should have a better "snow packing" ability due to their design as an all-season radial....
