Tranny being replaced.....DOH!

Well...my car hit 34k miles and has the usual SLOW shift from 1st and slippy from 2nd. I decided to take it into my dealer with fingers crossed that they would do the work if furnished by the TSB. Imagine how surprised I was when they said "New Tranny!". I about fell out of my chair. I tried to get it serviced at a different dealership but they blew me off.

I picked up a loaner and will be looking forward to getting my max back next week.

I'm still in shock. Also, its hard to jump into a 97 sentra 4 banger when you are rolling a Max with tons of mods.

Ugh!

I brought my 2000 in for the same thing. I told them about the TSB and they changed the solenoid like they were supposed to. After putting it back together it's still slipping. Now they are going to order the TCM and change that out near the computer when it comes in. Dod they go through the same procedure or did they just say "New trannie?" Just wondering becuase I'm a little leary about letting people work on my car.

They told me initially...."we'll try the solenoid first, TCM 2nd". The TSB calls for them to do that in order. I guess they must have tried both and it failed or they needed the warranty work at the dealership!

Did they happen to say anything about the fluid looking burnt or pieces of metal in transmission? I'd like to have a new tranni but I'd be scared that the mechanic wouldn't install it properly and problems would arise later down the road. I'll keep you posted as to whether my problem gets fixed.

I am on my third tranny. 1st one had metal shavings in it. Second one had low pressure but was the best tranny yet. 3rd one shifts like **** from 1st to 2nd but seems OK. I got a free 100k mile warranty out of Nissan.
