Tire Treadwear

Front, its where the power goes. They also do all the turning, so the edges get worn out quicker. You should get pretty even wear if you rotate them regularly. Usually replace all 4 at once.

Re: Tire Treadwear

Just a quick question do front tires wear out faster or rear tires wear out faster ? And is there any point to only changing 2 tires first or just change all four at once. Thanks

The OEM tires are supposed to be rotated front to back ONLY (R rear to R front, R front to R rear, same on left), because the tires are directional. That means they are designed to only rotate one way on the vehicle. If you swap sides with them, you're probably going to break some belts or worse
!!! It depends on the tire though. Some tires, like the ones on the 350Z, cannot be rotated. They are directional, asymetrical, AND the front and rear tires are different sizes. Z owners will be replacing tires OFTEN.
Tire rotation a must.
I just took off my 18's to go back to my stock 17's due to the weather up north, and let me tell you that I slacked off in rotating the tires at that 7,000 mile mark. I noticed that half the thread was gone from the front, and that is with constant checks for tire inflation levels. The 18's I got are heavy so I guess with that in mind you my have to rotate sooner than 7,000 to compensate for the weight of heavier rims and tires. When I put them back on during this spring I have all the meat left on the rears so they will go up front. Hope this helps.
