no. tax tag and title cost like another couple thousand dollars and it's not worth it to downgrade to an altima. the altima may be faster than your 2k1, but i still say the max looks better and gets more respect (in terms of which is a better car)...keep the max, keep your $2500+ dollars and use it for something else.

That's true...ttl will add on another 2K. Damn, it's very tempting though. The only problem is that I want a manual car and there are 0 used 6 speeds around my area. The dealers that did have a used 6 speeds were asking for $3K+ + my car for a base model 6 speed. I'm not too sure if I'll miss the leather, sunroof, or Blows system. I have this weekend to decide. What makes it kind of tougher to decide is that MaximaZero's concept kit is finally going to be made...decisions decisions

Like Tbirdrob said it's an SE which means it's the V6 model. Unfortunately tax is on the whole price of the car ($20K). Which comes to apprx $1700. About $3K in total. My Max comes no where close to it speed wise. I guess I'll dwell on it for a while...I'll post later on what I decide on doing. Thanks for everyone's opinion.
Peace.
Peace.

Hey Awsker, glad to see you haven't given up on the manual transmission idea.
Before I got my 6 speed I went thru the same decision making process. I drove the Altima 5 speed. I hated the shifter after driving the Max. The 6 speed, for all of its' faults is a much better tranny. I made the right decision. If I were you I would wait until the right car came along.
The other thing with the Alty is the interior was unbearable for me. I love the inside of the Max. The new Max with the three pod gauges and orange lights is just as nasty IMO.
Good luck buddy.

I would take a loaded car over a stripped car ANY day...and you want to pay $1000 to get out of the leathered up, BOSE audio having, V6 touting, TOP OF THE LINE NISSAN for a base model 4 cylinder, 5-speed?
do you like the way the Altima drives?
I imagine performance is about the same with the 175bhp 5 speed Altima and the 222bhp automatic Maxima...but then you have to shift manually. I only opted for the 6 speed because it makes me faster than any other stock Maxima. You won't be anywhere NEAR as fast as two different Altimas...the 3.5SE automatic, and the 3.5SE 5 speed.
stick with the Maxima...

As repeated earlier in this post SE Altimas only have the 3.5 liter......

You'll still have the fun of a 5-speed

Hey Bob! - thanks for your opinion. Yeah I'm still looking for a manual transmission Nissan. The problem is, the longer I wait the lower the value of my car. Hopefully something good comes along.
It seems I'll have to keep checking as the Dealer was BS'ng the whole deal . I go back to try to negotiate and see if I could lower the price on Altima V6 SE and they turn around and ask $6K instead of the $1K one of the sales managers first said. What a bunch of ****. Oh well, I still have a kick *** car. Can't wait til spring for the new body kit.
Again, thanks for everyone's input.
