the clunk is gone ooooo the clunk is gone
and I AIN'T complaining ![Big Grin](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
after months and months of listening to my rsb clunk over bumpy roads and clack over bumpy roads with a full load
the clunk is gone
clunk removal was my FIRST v-day gift in years (wipes a tear from her eye)
My rsb has been clunking since I put it on....and the so called "experts" could never figure out why ( I even had some bonified orgers look at it--and they couldn't help me either)
the "experts" (and yes that does include nissan -- damm dorks) told me that the clunking was caused by my aftermarket springs
my question to him was then why doesn't the front clunk too?
he walked away and I got in my car and drove ...clunk clunk clunk away
so yesterday I went to see a friend of mine who is...a mechanic
we put the car on the lift and just walk around looking at the undercarriage of the car
and I notice a REALLY FRIGGIN OBVIOUS WORN SPOT on the U bolt bracket
damn thing was dented in and bent...HOW IN THE HEAVENLY FRIGGIN FLACKING GRRRRRRRR did no one else see that
and if you look at the stupid trailing arm that damn thing is bent from hitting the frigging u bolt bracket GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
the passenger side bracket was too far in, and was coming in contact with the trailing arm every time I "bottomed" so he took the brackets off and hit them with a hammer to flatten them out again
them moved the passenger side out and the driver side in TA DA no more clunk
the bad part of all this is that I thought that was the problem....and mentioned it to nissan and they ALLEGEDLY moved the bracket (friggin liars) even clee had told me that may be the solution and gave me pics....I of course gave them to nissan
but the dingbat so called certified tech probably threw them in the trash
I called the service manager to complain about his idiot techs (yes I have his home phone number
we're REAL good friends by now)
I went offroading to test my bad a$$ driving with the new placement of the u-bolts there was nary a clack a crack or a clunk
so in appreciation of the holiday and clunk removal ..i mean it was v day and all
I gave him some

Glad to hear ya got rid of that pesky rattle!!...They can drive ya batty. Even the slightest rattle or clunk drives me nuts. Guess I am lucky cuz my max doesnt have too many.
It sounds like your V-Day (and his) was off the hook

Re: the clunk is gone ooooo the clunk is gone
Now, I just need to fix my clunk when it warms up!
How many inches do you have from the ends of the bar to the brackets (the ones that connect to the trailing arms), and from the bend in the RSB to the brackets (the ones that connect to the axle)? Someone said that you need 4.5" for the axle brackets.
I gave him some
