Weathertech Window Guards

Debating on placing an order for these in the group deals forum. Anyone have personal experience with them. Since they don't attach with tape or any other adhesive, the first question that comes to mind is will they stay on?

Any opinions would be helpful.

Thanks.

I don't think any of us had heard of them until the guy setting up the group buy set up the sell

If I had known about them I would have those instead of the crappy stick on ones that make SO MUCH FRIGGIN NOISE when I crack the windows (i know i know...I should have gotten the dang sunroof)

the double stick tape is exposed to the elements so it is not faring so well

I too am waiting for someone to receive thiers, install them and give us their opinion.

whomever installs them please let us know
1. how well do they fit in the window channel
2. pics pics pics and yes I know they are on the weathertech website but I still want more pics
3. is there any windnoise
4. sit in your car and have someone pour water over the top to see how the rain falls--does it come in the car??
5. spray your windshield with wiper fluid and then turn on your wipers WITH THE WINDOW DOWN , does the fluid come in the car? (mine does with the stick on vent visors and it bothers the hell outta me)

thanks guys!!

I got these for my car right after I bought it, last May. I love'em, nice sleek look not like your grandpa's car

1. Did Nissan make these... Well they fit like they did. They look like part of the door.
2. I don't have a digital camera sorry. Maybe I can get a buddy to post some pics by the weekend. The sites pics really are good though.
3. Some but not as bad as you would think. There not loud if thats what you mean.
4. As long as the window isn't open below the edge of the flector no water comes in at all and depending on the direction of the wind or can go a little lower than the edge maybe 1/2" or so. It's an open window nothings gonna be 100% all the time but this is as close as your gonna get though. I washed my car last week and when done realized one of the back windows was cracked. No water got in al all!
5. See 4

This is what I have and that pic is exactly how they look. The only problems I have had are 1. When some dirt gets in there they make a slight grinding noise. I stick a rag in there and wipe it down. As long as I've had them there is NO damage or scratches to the window. 2. The adhesive tape they use isn't the best. I put a few dabs of silicone where the tape is and 4-5 along edge that contacts the weather stripe on the top and it works great. These are much better than the ones Nissan made for the 4th gen that get taped to the door and even more low profile. They even match the 35% tint I have on my side windows.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. I am wondering about your reference to tape though. According to the site and the video on how to install these, there is no tape. I thought it is supposed to be kept in place by a mounting flange.

There is an adhesive on the flanges, both sides (L&R). You pull the backing off when installing.
I don't have a fast connection here I'll look at the vid when I get home.

They look sweet!!! I have some for my 03 max and they are worth every penny. Just take them off when you go to a touchless carwash because the pressure can pop them out. They look so much better than vent visor and they are made in GERMANY so you know they gotta be good.!!!

how can the pressure of the car wash pop them out if you have the windows all the way up??

that is something that I would definately worry about

I dunno I haven't had that happen to me. Granted I've only gone through 3 or 4 times (I usually wash it myself) I would think it would break before it came out with the windows up. For 3yrs with my 4th gen with the double sided taped kind they never came off.

downby3 you getting your car washed by an industrial pressure washer? You know Nissan paint wont handle that.

Vent visors.

Installing these was very very simple a slight bend and it's in. You may want to clean the inside of the channel where it goes. I cleaned it with a little alcohol and a rag. This is just to ensure the tape adheres to the inside channel. Ever since I have installed them they don't move around at all when in.

if u clean the inside channel very well the tape should adhere very well, so u shouldn't have to take them off when getting ur car washed right? or do u still recommand taking them off when getting ur car wash? if so will that affect the adhere tape since ur taking them off and putting them on...

The rear visors are the only ones that have tape. It's there as a precaution so they won't fly out with window open. They all fit in there really snug. I wouldn't pull them out when washing car. You can remove them if you want but I wouldn't recommend it.
Here are some pics of them installed on my car.
