this should be interesting to see since 02's and up use a different type of gearing mechanism. i believe it's a chain like mechanism.

care to let me know how you plan on doing this...thanx.

Yes I do plan on doing a 6 speed conversion on a 97 max. Correct me if i am wrong, but I was told that the 5MT and 6MT were identical, and that it could bolt right up. Was i fead false info?!

from what i understand, and i don't the complete specs of it, the ANNOYING thing of these6-speed gear boxes is the shifting mechanism uses a "bicycle chain-like" sort of method, where as prior cars do not. they use cable linking. this alone i think would make it nearly impossible to do a simple swap. and the reason i'm so curious is because i hate my shifter...many of us 5th genners complain that if we shift too quickly, it doesn't go in. it's also not as smooth as one would hope. maybe i'm wrong, but i don't think ia m. i'll have to let someone else chime in on this.

best thing would be to physically look at it and then compare. how does the stick control the shifting to the tranny. that's what i wanna see.

Let me get this straight. You dropped $1500 on a tranny that might not fit? What the hell are you going to do if it doesn't?

Come on guys, you got to give me more credit than that, I mean i do own a max, That should say that i do have some common sense. I just placed the call for the tranny today. It's in NY, i'm in MD. They weren't going to ship it out until Monday [They had to remove it from the car]. So i just called and put a hold on it. No money transfers have occured between me and the company. That wasn't going to happen until tomorrow morning. My fault if i was alittle miss leading, But i was alittle excited i was getting a tranny with less than 10K miles and flywheel for 1500.

You bought it from that place in Deer Park NY???

No, j/k, really, you've seem to have gotten everyone here curious as to what you're planning on doing, and at the sametime, trying something that hasn't been done yet, let alone can be done?

Plus, you seem to be avoiding the questions, but I guess that adds to the suspense now.
