2k1 shows IS300 how it done

has anyone ran any of these IS300's(toyotas litle mistake)//
at a light the other day some hot shot in his $$30k decided to rev at me,
i ingnored but that $!#@ started to get annoying. wat is this u rev at a car now and make the person go deaf because he has a muffler exposed.anyway his girlfriend(sitting in front) decided to point and laugh, so at green i still kept my composure and right at about 40mph
i gave him a look and heard his motor start to kick in and imediately punched mine, i pulled to about a car, then at 70 looked back and surprisingly had him by 2 cars, i thought he was gonna be riding my bumper honestly, i know for fact those cars run somewehere in the low 15's. At the next light he pulled up next to me as i was rolling down the window and i shouted quote:"buddy, u just lost to a 4 door automatic sedan" winked at his girlfriend then turned right at red. Wish u saw the look on his face.

IS 300's run in the high 15's on average. In 01 they put the 5-spd in them I believe. Still, no big deal though

I raced one with a friend in my car and my heavy a$$ audio system and still beat it. Those cars have show and little go. I still like them though.

Toyota's mistake is that they didn't import the actual Toyota Altezza with its very modifyable Turbo 2.0L 4 cyl.

First off, Nice Kill bro, now to the hater drudawg888, why can't you just say Nice Kill? If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it at all.

There's always someone on these boards who always gotta be the hater or Mr. Sarcastic. If you can't just say Nice Kill then why bother to post at all?

Haters, should be banned.

doesn't the Altezza have a 2.0 straight six?

Toyota Altezza/IS300 Write Up

I'm pretty sure that it's a small 2.0 I6....

Imagine what happens to those overpriced POS when they encounter a 2K2 ? .. They do have an aftermarket that can make them realy fast, but most of the ones I have raced are all just exhaust and intake.. ... As far as the twisties go, I'l challenge one with my Big Paws, and springs, FSTB, and RSB, lets see who has the biggest ***** !

i would hardly say that the IS300 is "toyotas little mistake" nor a "POS". for those of you that have been in one would probably agree that they are nice refined cars, that dont have the largest host of power, but can handle quite well. i agree though, they are a bit over priced, u mainly pay for the lexus name, i think most would rather have a wrx or lancer evo, etc for that price. anyways good kill! i am assuming he was auto, otherwise i think a 5speed would have given you a bit more trouble, but you never know.

they are definitely nice cars, its better than alot of these
civics i see around in FL although some could be fast, but a wrx would be chosen in a heartbeat compared to the IS300, yea i think the manual runs something like 15.2-15.3 stock

Considering my previous stable of cars..ITS A POS !I wouldnt pay 30 + K For that glorified ricer. Go pay it yourself if you want to. I would take a WRX over it anyday, if I was looking for a bang for the buck, or I would buy my friends 2K3 Cobra that runs 12's stock, for 34K, which is what a loaded IS300 goes for... so, yes it is a POS!

The IS 300 will become better when the L-Tune version gets released from Lexus. Alittle more power, and alot of handling goodies but at a larger pricetag of course.

Toyota doesn't have a 2.0 straight six engine. The altezza has the 2.0L Turbo 4. The IS300 has the 2jz-GE 3.0L Inline 6.

You must have one huge set of ballz to try to take the IS300 in the twisties. I don't even think a maxima with the FSTB, RSB, and springs can keep up with the IS in the twisties. The car not only handles incredibly, the power it has is sufficient to pull it in those situations.

I agree...Not a POS

My girlfriend has a 2K2 IS300 and although it doesn't have as much umph, (I know my 2K2 SE can blow it away) it handles ten times better than mine. There is almost no body roll at all...and changing lanes is done with the slightest movement of the wheel. Also, the car feels very tight all over...I think that even though it has 4 doors, it is definitely not a "sedan".

She has the E-shift which I think sucks, but I had some fun recently ****ing all over a Jetta

I think we all know the IS is not a straight-line champ but the overall car is great. It was the first JAPANESE car to take the 3 series head on and lose/meet/win in comparos. I won't go there with engine swaps, that is silly. But to many that want a sporty car with taunt styling (short overhangs) a very different interior, a high standard feature content and Lexus reliability and service, well it's there. It met sales targets initally but is a lil behind now. But it did lower Lexus avg. age of owner, as a bunch of them will move up to GS cars.

BTW, his girlfriend was probably paying you no attention bub

just because its the first doesnt mean its the best
and the interioir may be different, but the quality isnt that great (especially for the price) also its standard feature content may seem great but i pay less to get the standard feature content of an IS300 on my 2K2

When I made my first runs in my then new 03' SE, a similarly modded IS300 was racing against me, (he only had a intake as well) well, I got a 14.4 and he got a 15.6. I talked to him after, and he told me he didn't realize what the 02-03 Maximas were capable of

They always think a maxima is just a family car UNTIL they got stomped

The interior texture may be different, but it's quality. No panel gaps, no cracks etc. I did not say the first is the best. Sometimes, the first is the worst and everyone else copies and perfects it.

Yes the 2K2 Max has a high feature content higher or equal to the IS.

What is your point bub?

1SICKLEX, sadly Nissan doesnt appear to be trying very hard for convert Max owners into newer max owners or even Infiniti owners anymore. Lexus was right on with the IS. I want a GS but will probably start with the IS.
