Window Tab

Does anyone know the purpose of the black tab on the outside of the car window? Mine is located on the outside front side windows just as the window starts to slope downward toward the ground. I don't see any real use for it. Anyone?

I always assumed it was to keep the window in the track because of the curve of the doors. Dunno, but it sounds good to me.

I've wondered the same thing. Most all cars windows are generally shaped the same way but many don't have that tab. The window would really have to be out of whack for that tab to do any good.

The reason I ask is I just ordered the Weathertech guards and I think I will have to do something with this tab since the guards are installed in the window track itself. I'm not for sure, but I thought I'd check before I received them and tried to install them.

You can still install it with the tab on. Look on the WeatherTech page, they have it installed on a Max with the tab on.
