Ash tray Kit install...2000se

Bought the kit and just do not know how to remove the gear shift finisher (I'm not going to pay $80 an hour). I'm sure that there are some hidden clips and I just don't want to mess-up the console. Thanks.

Ash tray kit? Are you diving a 2000 Max, or a 1974 Monte Carlo?

Oh well, hopefully the fact that you are installing an ash tray kit, means you won't be flicking your butts out the window like the rest of the dirtballs.

Yes, I know this post was absolutely no help to you at all.

the only screw holding the shift console finisher is under the ashtray pocket/insert. open the ashtray ... pull insert out ... and look ... remove the screw then slowly pry out (going gently) the finisher ...

To remove the shift console, just pull up and back (toward the rear of the car). However, FIRST you need to remove the scew located under the 'ash tray compartment'. Just slide out the velvet lined 'cell phone holder' and you will see the screw

Mine pulled right out. Along with all the change I had in there, my wallet, 150 CDs, golf clubs, buddies cell phone and money clip.

Thanks for the reply. I really wanted to add on the cigarette lighter to the current power outlet, but in order to start the removal they stated that the shift console had to be removed to get access to the power unit socket. Some accesories work better thru the cigarette socket than just the power outlet.
