Power loss above 2K

I was coming home from my parent's house just now and I noticed that above 2K, the engine just didn't pull like it normally does. In fact, there were times where I floored it and the car barely accelerated. It would still rev higher, albeit very slowly, but it felt like the engine was struggling the entire time. My guess is that this is the MAFS going, but my initial search on this topic has only indicated what happens when it finally goes, not all of the symptoms leading up to one failing. The car doesn't rough idle or anything else, just extreme power loss above 2k. Does this indeed seem like a MAFS issue or is there something else that could lead up to power loss. If it means anything, I changed my oil filter today and the trip MPG reading was actually going up from 25 when normally when I drive home it goes down (this is 80+ driving in a cold climate). I would guess that this could also be indicative of a MAFS failure as the computer is letting up on the gas due to incorrect MAFS readings. Also, I have never messed with the intake so that doesn't come into play here. Does all of this seem right?

Thanks
Matt

i was reading the post about the MAF trick to tell if you MAF is going out and the guy said to unplug the maf cable and see if the symtoms are still there, if they are not that means you MAF is going out.

I read that as well an was under the impression that that was a good way of determining if the MAFS had already failed completely. I think mine must still work somewhat since I'm not in Limp Mode yet and have no CES light. I fear that if I pull the plug on the MAFS I'll be left in a worse driving state. I'm going to see if it does it again today on the way to work and if so make an appointment with NIssan. I guess I might as well have some other warranty work done as well.
