If you don't stop whining about it, the next Maxima won't have a stick, and then you'll be eating your words. Just think about that for a minute.

Why must you go out of your way to be disrespectful to owners that are having problems with the throttle/fuel cut issue? There are many 5-speed owners that feel this is a problem. I haven't seen one person "whine" about it. There has been a calm, analytical discussion about it here and on several other sites on the web since August of 1999. The purpose of this forum is to exchange information with other owners and learn something in the process.

To those that don't feel that the issue is a problem for you: fine - consider yourself lucky! You don't know how the other owners drive their cars... Have you sat in the car with them? Do you know how they shift? How much they weigh or how tall they are? These factors and more affect how a person drives. Why participate in the thread at all unless you have something useful to contribute?

Making accusations and wholesale dismissals is contrary to the charter of this board, and most of the ongoing discussions of this Throttle/Fuel Cut issue contain more substance than 80% of the "fluff" posts in these forums. Can you point out a more on-topic thread?

Wow, you really must be the authority on this issue since you obviously row through the gears in your Ma... I mean automatic! Anyway, I do feel for those few drivers who are effected by this situation, but you also must realize the way that big corporations work. If Nissan keeps getting complaints from the small sector of manual owners that there are, they will do either of two things. One, is what all of you are hoping for, and that is to spend money and research a fix for this problem. Second, is the free option, and that is to dump the manual altogether. It has been clearly documented that corporations are more inclined to save money then to win over the few customers that are complaining. There are people with jobs that simulate the loss of revenue each decision will create and the cheaper one wins. So just be careful, because without the manual the Maxima loses 50% of its fun factor.

Lastly, I agree, this is one of the most on topic debates that has been floating around here recently, but it has been beaten to death.

I never claimed to be an authority on the issue (re-read my post), but I've read everything I could find about it since it was first pointed out on USENET back in August of '99. And I have a separate problem with my automatic tranny, which was corrected by Nissan after a few drivers complained about it. I recall many people on this board giving Russel Zotz the hardest time because he "whined" about his tranny problems. Now there is a TCM update for my automatic, largely due to his "complaining."

I responded because I thought your taunting of those owners with the problem was unnecessary. You could have made your point, which I agree with to some extent, in a more supportive manner. I'm sure they feel bad enough knowing that Nissan will probably ignore them.
