I love the 5th gen Maxima SE but have serious problem with the "tacky" black tail lights. Is there any kind of replacement for them and how much? Are the GXE/GLE lights direct replacement? Thanks.

yes, you can swap the tails. In fact, people on this board were looking to get the SE tails in place of their GXE/GLE tail lights a while back. Ask around, maybe someone will want to trade with you.

You could make em at home. A jkiMaX00 did that. But I dont reccomend that 'cause in alot of places if you get rearended, your at fault.

I have a set of the GXE/GLE red lamps in mint condition. They were removed one month after the car was purchased. $100 for both has them delivered to your home =)

Well if you ask me its the gxe/gle lights that are "tacky". Then again, since my car is black the lights look basically round.

If you think the tailights are tacky, then you should have gotten a GXE

Personally, I'd choose the SE tail lights over the GXE/GLE any day. One of the reasons I chose the SE over the other models.

I agree; in my opinion it is the GXE/GLE taillights that look cheap and unattractive...the SE lights have style and contrast. I can't imagine the act of putting GLE lights on an SE...ouch! I, too, avoided the GXE/GLE for that very reason...plus I wanted a 5 speed with goodies.
