Transmission repair success versus failure

I had the solenoid reapir done on my 2000 GLE to solve the 2nd to 3rd slipping problem. I'm going in tomorrow to tes drive with tech to get TCM replaced.

I've been searching the site because I have seen a few posts who have had to have the entire transmission replaced - sometimes even after the TSB repair.

How many of you 5th Gen owners hav actually had to have your transmission replaced?

I assuming a pretty large number have had at least one, if not both the solenoid and TCM fix, but since my has been an ongoing concern I'm trying to get a handle of failures to success rate.

I think some guys on here have had a tranmission replaced 3 times. I don't want that.

I'm also concerned about this. I'd be really pist if the "fix" only made the problem worse or caused more problems!

I had my solenoids changed yesterday to try and fix the first to second slip, but it did not work. The dealership is ordering the TCM and installing it next week. They told me that they have not seen any where the solenoids did not fix the problem. Also they said that the TCM was probably not going to fix the problem, and they were going to have to replace the transmission. I had a very good experience with them, but I am worried because my car has 599xx miles on it now. I am hoping that if they replace the tranny, it will fix it and stay fixed. I would hate to have to pay for a new tranny. I just bought the car. Do you think I should buy a used car warranty for it, due to the problematic tranny?

Why was the tranny replaced each time -- to attempt to address the TSB or due to tranny failure?

Did the 2nd replacement fix the problem?

ive got the slipping problems too and the first time i went into nissan they told me it was fine but in a couple weeks im gonna go back to nissan and make em do the tcm and solenoid because the slipping is really getting bad and im really hoping i dont have to get a new tranny. If thats the case im really considering getting a 5 speed swap or even selling the car and picking up a BMW.....

I reported in November that my 02 SE was having a slipping problem between first and 2nd. First they flushed the fluid, then they replaced the solenoid. Problem got better, but still existed.

Then last week they replaced the TCM. Wow what a difference. If feels better that it did when new!!!!. They said mine had internal damage!!!!
