Help...Pin stripes falling off!
Help...Pin stripes falling off!
Here in Maryland we've had lots of snow (over 2 feet) but I felt lucky that I filled the tank and washed the car just prior to the massive snowfall. After 2 weeks of shoveling I finally got the car out of the drive last night. This afternoon after running around it today I noticed about half of the pin stripes have become unstuck. It seems random, dangling 3 inches then stuck on for the next 3 inches over the entire length on both sides. I didn't really care for them in the first place but they look *BAD* now. Since the Max still has less than 36k I feel I might be able to get the dealer to fix it but honestly it was purchased from the dealer 3 years and 1 week ago.
Any advice on:
A. Removing them completely with damage to the fragile clear coat.
or
2. Getting the dealer to replace them under warranty.
or
III. Replacing / repairing them myself.
Thanks in advance.

When the weather warms up(Spring). get a hair dryer, warm up the pinstripe by going over it approx 2 inches from the surface of the car. the stripe will get gummy, peel it off and do the same for the other side, do this down the length of the car until it is totally removed. after you are done wax the car you will never know that you even had pinstripes. this process won't harm the finish, just don't leave the hairdryer in one place too long.

. When i removed mine i used a hair dryer and some bug n tar and it came right off. I just waxed afterwords and it looks so much better. My car is black and u can kinda still see where it was in some places if u look at it from a certain angle with the right light but im sure it will wear off with time...-Steve
