Good shifting techniques?

I just got my 6-speed 2k2, and I would like to see if anyone has any recommendations on good shifting techniques to get the most life out of the clutch? What is riding the clutch? I have heard that the clutch should be used like a switch, on and off, however, in order to shift smoothly I need to hold the clutch in slowly before letting off. Anyways, you get the idea... if you have anything to add, please do.

thanks.

UCF... I go to FSU. anyways riding the cluth is when you giving the car gas and driving with the cluth still pushed in. A lot of new drivers do this. Try to avoid it. However, when going from a dead stop you do need to release the cluth slowly to get a smooth take off. As for driving through the rest of the gears practice will make perfect. Get a good feel for the car and in no time you'll be beating everything on the road.
