2 Mufflers, opinions welcomed

I am thinking about a new muffler for the max, these are the 2 that I am looking at, I know the "hp gains" are bogus, but, do you guys think:

a) they look ok?

b) they will alter the exhuast note?

c) which would you prefer?

If not either one of these, any idea's about a different brand/style?

Thanks in advance

Muffler 1

Muffler 2

and yes, I am looking for dual tips

I had the remus style before. It was made by Fucuz. Way too loud for me, especially with the Y pipe and catback. I went back to stock.

Personally I have a Magnaflow on mine, sounds sweet at idle but when im driving it can get quite anoying after a while, I do have a y-pipe and catback. After I get the rims im probably gonna change my muffler out and try a borla. If that doesnt work 4 me, im goina back to stock. Try this site, they have better prices then most.

I really dont think the upturned tips would look good on a maxima. I have thh Cattman muffler. I love the tone of my exhaust. The muffler isnt cheap, but I like how it looks and performs. Pics on my homepage.

get a flowmaster. sound great, cheap (40 bucks at pep-boys or whatever) and have it welded on, as probably both of the ones you're looking at must be.

Flowmasters might sound nice, but if the one you're thinking of is that aluminized material, it'll rust out in a hurry. My friend has a cat-back system on his T-bird and that thing looks like crap only after a year.

Do yourself a favor and pay a little extra for a stainless steel one (which ever brand it may be) that will LAST.

I had a Dynomax cat-back on my T-bird and it had stainless steel tips (the only part that showed). Looked great for a while until I looked under the car and it was falling apart. Not as big a deal because it has a lifetime warranty. As long as they keep replacing it I'll stick with it!

Does Borla make a system for the Maxima? It was like over $600 for a cat-back on the T-bird while the Flowmaster was under $300 for the same setup. Borla makes theirs out of material that won't rust or fall apart. I just could see spending that kinda dough.

personally i had that remus type on my 2.2L camry--that thing was soooooooooo loud. it got incredibly annoying within a couple of months so imagine a bigger engine on that thing.

Actually a bigger motor would soun better then a 4banger would. I personally dont like the sound of most any 4cyl with and exhaust its too damn raspy and loud. The v6 sounds just deep, very deep and can aslo get anoying really fast. A V8's however is just intoxicating to me.

Which sounds better on a 3.0 the powertech or magnaflow? I can't get the sound clip on Kloogy's site. Any magnaflow sound clips out there?

Well to tell u the truth man, I couldnt hear ur exhaust much on the dyno. On the dyno u hear the Dyno and the intake more then anything. If u made a sound clip of ur car standing behind it I think it would work a bit better like kloogy had his set up. Also Bigdogjonx has the powertech and im sure he still has his soundclip on his homepage so try that. Personally I think the powertech would sound better then the Magnaflow, they are both deep but on my 3.0 the magnaflow is way too deep and gets anoying after a while, little to no drone just deep in the low rpms but in the higher rpms it doesnt seem to bother me much at all.

Good choice, ive also heard good things about the borla muffler. Ive provided a link to a site eatlier in this thread which gives u pretty good deals on mufflers and I dont think u have to pay tax either. Thats were I got my magnaflow and thier customer service was also pretty cool. Im probably gonna switch over to a borla at one point or another to see how it is, ive heard it nice at idle w/o getting loud til u get on it. Im not too sure about the offset but I know some1 did a setup with offset/center and it worked on his ride which btw was a 4th gen but shouldnt make a diff. Normally id use search and find it but its still not working.
