To repaint or not to repaint - Advise please

I am one of the many 2002 Nissans with the bad sunroof deflector. Well, mine broke in half and I had to take it off. When I did, I noticed that I had deep ruts in my paint where the deflector had been. I have a couple of opitons that have been made availabe.

What would you guys do (Nissan rep already told them to do what it takes)?

1. Repaint roof to make it look like new.
2. Put wind deflector on and forget about it.
3. Have them touch it up as best as they can and leave it alone.
4. Put the wind deflector on and see if they will have the dentless repair guy fix a rock ding in my hood.

I am at a Delima. I really want it to look right and I kinda like it without the deflector. Sorry for the long post.

Do not repaint the roof. Most body shops cant do a good job. i personaly hate paint work. What u can do is touch up the scratches then take 1500 WET SAND paper. Sand it down with plenty of water and then buff the roof. If you are not good with hands let the pro do it. OR do the sanding urself and let someone else buff. This way ur resale value wont go down cause ur car was repainted and your clear coat wont start coming off in few years. Believe me there is one in a million body shops that actually do good work. I have only seen one.

I think if you like it without the deflector I would leave it off and have it repainted. If you put a deflector back on it's going to make a mark again.

I pulled mine off after I had the car a week and it already left a mark. I personally don't like the way they look either.

If Nissan is going to pick up the tab - a professional refinish job is in order. While they have the paint mixed up you might as well kick in a little of your own money and have any rock chips touched up.

Good luck!

The service Guy said that the Nissan Rep said to do what it takes to make me happy. I initially told them that I would like it repinted. These are big ruts and I am not sure that wet sanding will fix it.
