Dirty headlight

I recently painted my inside 2k headlights and i noticed that the outside was quite dirty. I used some soap and water but those little particles didn't want to budge. I was wondering what is the best way to make my headlights clear as new? Is there any way I can buff it? I remember in High School, we had a buffing wheel that can make any piece of acrylic clear as glass. Are the headlights similar to acrylic? thanks

If it's particulates stuck to your headlights, a clay bar works well. If your lights are getting pitted and cloudy then you may want to invest in a glass/plastic polishing kit. OR, if it's real bad then 2000 grit sandpaper, wet, followed up by a good glass polish is a sure bet. Either way, for more info check out autopia.org

good luck
