CD skips when bass hits.

I know I should probably ask in the audio forum but I'm trying here first. Everytime bass hits in the ride, the CD skips like crazy. Any fixes on that!?

Stock or aftermarket system?

If aftermarket - trunk mounted changer?

Cold or when car is warm?

Tempeture has nothing to do with a CD skipping, bro.....
But I do believe he has a Changer in the trunk though.

I do not agree with this statement. In my old car, I had an Alpine deck, which worked well for many years. Then, after a while it got to the point when it would not recognize cd's in the morning when it was cold, but after the car had warmed up some, either due to the heater being on or just cuz it was later in the day, it would work much better.

I have also read a thread here in the past where a guy posted that if he keeps his auto climate on 68 degrees (maybe colder, it's been a while since I read the thread) then after a while his cd player will stop working as well as it did before it cooled down. But it works fine when it is warmer. These experiences lead me to believe that temperature does affect how well a cd player (at least one in a car) will work.

Sub + changer

Does anyone have an aftermarket sub in the trunk with a CD changer? I was thinking about getting the Clarion changer, but I didn't know if my aftermarket sub would make the CDs skip

Back in the day when CD changers first were out I had two 12" subs that would skip my changer.

I really think it all depends how much bass you have and how good the skip protection is on the changer you get.

I remember this guy I knew in college - he had two Kicker 15" subs in the extended cab of his Dakota (took up over half that volume) and it would skip the CD in the DASH. This wasn't no cheapy deck either - it was like a $700 deck. CRAZY bass this thing had....

In my wrangler I had a 12 disk sony changer with ESP so the changer never skipped with all the bass... but I am concerned about the clarion changer for the bose system and my aftermarket sub

If it's not your CD itself, then that's a warranty repair. I think there was something on this before in General or Audio...can't remember

I have to disagree with you on this too....It's been so freakin cold here in the Northeast....depending on the temperature, every morning when I start the car it takes a while before the Bose in dash cd changer will work properly without skipping

Yup me too. I do think temperature does play some type of role in it also. Although I haven't had a problem with CD's skipping. My problem is sometimes my Bose CD player won't read the CD's*usually happens when its cold outside* but when it's warm theres no problem.

Wow! That is truly odd...... In-dash deck shouldn't be prone to skipping, at least aftermarkets from what I could tell. Bose is something I really don't have too much experience dealing with; I normally recommend people to remove them completely when if comes to upgrading the sound system. However that hasn't been the case recently.....

Do you think it can be because of condensation? You mentioned that it skips when it's only cold but when it warms up, it is fine.

On cold mornings the dash heats up and condensation collects on the cd, due to differential heat transfer and no heated air blowing on the cd player internals ... I pulled the cd out and see lots of dew on the cd itself, hold it in front of the heated air and it self dries, and plug and play ...
