Maxspeeds and Addco installed - amazing

I had my Maxspeeds and Addco RSB installed today. I'm still running on snow tires and it rained all night so I couldn't exactly push it, but I cannot believe it's the same car.

No more of the rear-end squat under acceleration, and the body roll is all but gone. The most impressive thing is that the tires seem to work much better now that the suspension has been upgraded. These snows don't hydroplane, but they don't grip very well in turns. With the RSB and springs, they feel like different tires.

Next up will be the FSTB and my Evos (with ES100's). I'm saving the Frankencar for last. (Spare me the flames on the Evos - that's been done ad nauseum in another thread.)

The car is noticably lower (I didn't bother measuring before/after), but the ride doesn't seem to have suffered. I'm glad I went with these springs - the Eibachs on NJ's roads would have shaken my teeth loose.

My only question (since the search is down) is for those with Maxspeeds. Did you notice the car settling much in the weeks after the install? How much? More in front or rear, or was it the same?

Thanks,

John

Ditto, Maxspeed and the RSB do wonders.

Yes they are. The ride feels very much like stock, but again, I haven't had much of a chance to push the car. I presume the shocks will bottom sooner (for obvious reasons), but I can live with that until the day comes that I can afford real coil-overs.

thanks... I asked because I've got maxspeeds in the barn right now, going on when the summer wheels go back on, and I wanted to make sure I didn't need new struts

Ive got Maxspeeds (the FIRST max owner to put these on and then everyone else jumped the bandwagon) and have them on stock struts. After 10k miles, my struts are gone. Getting bouncy. Need new ones.

Also broke the front and rear engine mounts two days ago. Guess I got to lay off the boosting for awhile.

I was concerned about the ride - I was afraid it'd be bouncy, but it doesn't feel that way at all. Little turns like lane changes are much crisper and there's no body roll until you push much harder. Of course, I'm not sure how much is spring and how much is RSB since they went on together.

so if my struts go in 10k miles, all I'll need is new struts? The springs will not be affected if the struts go, right?

No, the ride will just get bouncier more and more, then it will be hard to drive normal without changing the struts quickly. Im thinking of doing the KYB AGXs and just modifying them. But I will do that when I go to Birmingham to do it in my dads shop.

What does it fee like when the struts go? More bouncy? What else? I have had my Max Spring on for about 5k Miles now, with stock struts. feels good.

John,
As to your original question. Yes it will settle down and even out over the next 2 weeks or so. You can hasten this by piling 3 other people in your car and riding around for a while.

You should end up with around a 1.7 - 2" drop in front and a 1.2 - 1.5" inch drop in the rear. So it evens it out a bit since the 4 wheel drive effect on stock is much more pronounced in the front.

At least this is what I got. I love mine.

It starts to bounce more on certain bumps. Instead of rebounding once, it will rebound once more. And progressively get worse from there.

Sup John,

I just got my Maxspeeds and Tokicos put on yesterday(with the swapmeet meet priced Evos) Anyways, the difference is amazing! The drop is perfect and the yellow and blue combination of the struts and springs make an interesting display. Pics coming soon.

When I meant shop I meant his garage that we use to work on cars with. We have every tool in there, engine hoist, jacks, all air powered tools, ability to paint a car, all kinds of things.
