Just got back from the dyno :(

My best was 211.9 hp and 224.1 tq . Mods 2.5 b pipe, 2.5 wsp y-pipe which now I'm a firm believer it does nothing, UDP, and homemade pop charger. Well I'm slightly ****ed and thinkin of removing the wsp y pipe and redynoing. I was talking with a few z-28 guys and one said he was off 16whp from the last dyno with nothing changed. Well I don't know but my power didn't drop until 6200 which I was surprised by that. I will try and scan the sheet monday.

Did the z-28 guys use the same dyno as before? What I'm trying to get at, is if it's possible the dyno was off. I mean, look at your quarter mile times!!

Don't the auto's lose around 6% more power than manual transmissions do? Also you should try dynoing on your slicks and try to keep the engine's coolant temp around 180-190*F.

I just talked to Nick. He said the same thing, most people were making low numbers on this dyno. But who knows if it was the dyno or just the weather.

I too went with Matt to the dyno today. My car, 2k2 6spd, put down pretty much identical #'s as Matt's dyno. I'll scan it and post tomorrow. My mods include: Frankencar Intake w/ Apexi Filter, HKS Rear Exhaust, RT CAT, and UR Pulley. I'm also very disappointed by my #'s, in fact I'm shocked. I'm heading down to Precision Dyno(different dyno) next weekend to try again. I'll be sure to post the results.

I really wonder what my #'s would have been on a different dyno, because I made 218.4HP & 269ft/lbs. , makes me wonder if i could have gotten a little more power.

My car also trips out in the rain since I took the sheilds off, i dont know what cuases it....water getting into the 02 sensor maybe??

I'm not to sure about your results b/c you actually removed a precat which is good for some power. On the 02-03 it removed nothing just shorter piping. Makes me wonder what time I can pull after headers and a full y pipe

Here's my crappy dyno:

As you can see my best pull netted 211.0 HP and 229.0 LBS. Torque. I strongly feel something is 'not right'. All runs were pulled in 4th gear. Other org members with similar, or the exact same mods, have posted dyno #'s way higher than mine. Like I said before, I going to a different dyno next weekend. Blubyu2k2 and BJJ, you're welcome to join me if you like. If not then I'll let you know the results. Yes, this is starting to bother me.

Also, my car is running extrememly rich at higher RPM's. It's better than running lean however if anybody has any ideas on how to better my air/fuel ratio I would love to hear them. Thanks.

I would be down for going next weekend, I need to play with my fuel pressure some and see if I can make some more power, plus if we went and had a real dyno session we would get like an hour each to tune our cars instead of just 3 pulls.

I'm going to AutoThority to have my car dynoed either next week or the week after. Is there anything I should request? I wanted to get an idea of the before and after Y and B pipe.

$20 to dyno? Seems like the dyno may not have been accurate.

Redynoing somewhere else when you get a chance.

naa it was a big dyno day. Mainly ls1 guys but over 40 cars. They said there numbers were off that day but I have a decent idea now of what my car put down. It was 218hp and 229tq uncorrected but still sucks

So I'm not crazy... I'll pitch in if you want to re-dyno on the same dyno without the wsp y-pipe - leaving everything else as it, and doing it before the climate changes too much.

That graph actually looks pretty good. You're making over 200whp from 4800 all the way to 6300 rpm. The averages mean alot more than the peaks.

Well they do this dyno day every 1 1/2 to 2 months. I am goin to redyno at a different shop possibly this weekend. If I net the same results the pipe is coming off.

If you guys go to Precision dyno, don't pay too much attention to Tom. He can be very annoying sometimes.

One thing you guys should do is have him hookup his multimeter and monitor your injector duty cycle. I may attend just to see that.

Even though I knew the WSP Y wouldn't give much if any power, I would've thought that with the other mods you have the peak HP would have been a little higher. SR20DEN is right in that your average HP is pretty good. But from 2k2SEmax's dyno sheet it doesn't look like he hit peak until just about 6.1k, right before drop off.

I'd like to see what numbers you get when you go somewhere else. And I won't post any more comments about the Y till then
To bad you guys aren't a little closer I'd go with you and get mine done also. I live in NE Atlanta and I'm planing on getting mine done soon. It will be nice to compair the numbers with mine having a stock exhaust.

I'm waiting till we have a couple of companies that have headers to see what kind of numbers come out'em before I do my exhaust. Until then I may get a new B-pipe W/res. and mod the stock muffler. I also like the way WPS, or who ever makes it, has done their Cat but that will be something I do later on with what ever headers I end up with.

Good luck with the new dyno.

Oh yea I meant to ask is 3rd gear the closest to 1 to 1 in an auto?

If you have an auto then you should dyno in 3rd gear.
If you have a 6-speed manual, then you should dyno in fourth gear.

Tom is a good guy at Precision. He dynod my SS many times and I was always happy with the results. Using his multimeter and wideband O2 will cost you more money.

Are you guys concerned about the ultimate numbers? A dyno is a tool to measure your performance gains and losses. It's not made to compare your results to someone else 8 states away. Don't get so caught up in the true numbers. You should be concerned about the gains and losses and changes in the power curves.

blubyu2k2-
I don't know why you're so concerned nor why you believe your mods are doing nothing for you. Look at your timeslips and notice how you're going quicker with more modifications.

I know but I want to go faster just need a real y pipe and test pipe and headers and rear section then I might be satisfied

If that's true, then why didn't you just by a Camaro for less money and do that? You would be able to easily beat ricers and Mustangs (except the '03 Cobra) if you did that.

There must be more to this story.
