Which Gen?

I'm in a bit of a rut here...I can't decide between 4th Gen and 5th Gen. Any suggestions/arguments towards either way?

I have a feeling everyone in the 5th Gen forum will have the same answer...

Well...what I mean is, I'll be getting a Max in less than a year, regardless of whether I get 4th Gen or 5th Gen. Most of my friends say "Get a 4th Gen," their main reason being more modability. Is it true that the 5th Gen's aren't as modable?

Yes.
Well, judging from what I've seen, nothing's impossible with a 5th Gen. But the reason I might pick a 5th Gen over a 4th Gen is overall looks...I like the more modern look to it. As far as mods go, the kind of stuff I'd do to it is: a body kit, some performance upgrades, lighting, etc. What about interior? Is it hard to install something like an LCD screen? (either in the dash or flip-down from the roof)

i wouldn't think that it'd be any harder than the 4th gens for interior mods.

Mods will be a bit more expensive overall for a 5th gen. LCD screen install will be similar for both generations. More body kit options are available for the 4th gen.

I'm not going for anything flashy as far as the body kit. I don't want anything radical like what I see on some 4th Gens. I'd go for something more quaint like the Aero kit or something.

A 2000 or 2001 with the Stillen aero kit looks sweet and might be just what you are looking for.

it is but there is a lot u can do with 5th gens to
plus they look better and while u can do more performance upgrades to make 4th gens faster than 5th gens its only a matter of time before they supercharge the 3.5 liter VQ then 5th gens will be definitely faster

Sort of what I was thinking...If I get a 5th Gen, it'll more than likely be a 2000 just because of price. Plus I don't really want a 2002/2003 merely because of the lack of space under the hood

Which GEN to pick ?

I started out looking for a 1999 SE (4th Gen), but wound up with a 2000 GXE (5th Gen). I guess which I would recommend depends on what you are looking for. Performance wise, I would go with a 4th Gen, as more upgrades are available. And while there is a 32hp difference between '99 -> '00, everything I have read says the '99 is actually just as fast 0-60 anyway. Based on the cars I drive I would believe it is, BUT, the 2000 is quieter and smoother. I also like the 2000 styling a little more, and there are more interior and exterior add-ons available for the 5th Gen.

BUT EITHER WAY, DO NOT WAIT, BUY ONE NOW !!!!!

IMO

if deciding between a 5th Gen 3.0 and a 4th Gen, I say get a 1999 SE 5-speed

but if you are considering a 2k2/2k3...

then I say go with the 3.5L

but about mods availiable NOW...vs. 2 years from now I say that eventually there will be more mods for the 3.5, because of the Z/Altima/G35/FX35/Murano/Pathfinder/Maxima...must I go on?

why doesn't Nissan put the VQ in the Titan as a base engine? I think it's pretty much a no brainer...
