maybe will get some zingers but this car may be on my short list along with MAYBE the IS300. Drove my friends Passat Wagon today and just loved it! Of course I wouldnt get a wagon but....

I doubt I'd get one that look like this but I thought this was pretty hot looking

It's a very nice car! I like the more aggressive restyling. From what I read, the interior has been completely redesigned too. Imagine a nice one with AWD!

I think that one in the pics has optional body kits etc...

Here is what a "regular" one looks like

Still a nice car, other than the blue color. I wish they could bring the 2.5L TDI engine to the US, it can be chipped to well over 200lbs/ft of torque! Unfortunately, the sulphur content in the US diesel fuel is 10x that in Europe, so no new diesels for us.

nice lines. The great thing about the Passat is that they can be easily found with a stick and the stick shifts very crisply. The stick feels as though the car was made for it, rather than an accomodation to some serious drivers, which is what I thought about the 5 speed in the Max. I drove several Passats before I got my Max and almost got one. The reliability issues were what scared me away. They do have a nice feel and seem quicker than posted specs.

It makes we want to test drive one, before I buy an A4.

Thats sweet!

I hear that the Passat will finally have a rear Ind. suspension and won't share any underpins with the upcomming A4. Now, if Nissan will stick double wishbones at all corners on the next generation. NISSAN do you here me?

yeah, with that body kit, that thing is NICE

I would think an A6/8 were rolling up on me, and a Honda with cheesy aftermarket lights if I were rolling up on it. However, with my 5thGen, I've got no place to critize taillights

I almost bought one.. if the dealers had been better, I would have. I'm learning a great deal about the value of a cars *service* at the moment. I always thought warranty was warranty.. and I worried about whether I could find an oil filter easily. Lesson being learned with my max....

Yup

I know what you mean....for the most part my dealer has been ok...but sometimes I feel like I'm in a trial courtroom and need to prove my case beyond a reasonable doubt before I can get anything done!! You would think when a new TSB comes out that they would at least post the damn thing in the break room or something...probably gets tossed in the pile of junk mail with the Nissan Tech Buddie Journal or some crap like that.

One odd thing about the Passat...you cough out almost 28G's for the GLX and you need to BUY the CD player...that is pretty weak if you ask me

Granted my friends is a wagon but the tourqe in that thing is the nuts...totally pinned me back in my seat while he was whipping thru the gears....

I hate the chrome

The new one has a lot of new chrome. Lots of people don't like that "improvement."

The interior hasn't changed much. I do like the new rear lights though.

The 1.8 T has been ugpraded to 170 HP, but I think the v6 is the same.
