Is my A/C messed up?

These past two days in Jersey have been spring days, and they have been in the 70's. I tried turning on my A/C and nothing but hot air comes out, sometimes a bit cooler, but mostly hot, is the a/c/ messed up or does it need higher temps to work?

Do you run it at least once for 10 mins every month? That's normal maintenance procedure for A/Cs, so I'd recommend doing that in the future if you haven't been doing that.

As of the problem, run the A/C for a few days (if the weather allows for it), and see if it gets up to speed. If not, you may have a problem with the condenser I would think, not sure though.

No, never did that, dumb me. I don't know what to do, it's been two days in the 70's and the A/C blows out mild air. Should I wait for hotter temps or just take it to dealer?

If it's been blowing mild air on more than one occasion, I'd consider getting it inspected. If you're still under warranty, than no biggie right.

Good luck

P.S. I'm sure someone here may know more about A/Cs, and will chime in.

Make sure you the the recirculation button on. The one with the car and the "looped" arrow. I believe this will solve your problem.

How's that going to solve the problem? In the summer time, I would turn off circulation when I first get inside my car because the A/C can cool the car off quicker by recycling air, rather than drawing in fresh air.

Using recirculation can solve the problem of windows fogging up, but if recirculation is turned off, it's actually supposed to blow the cold air harder.

Just run by a full serve service station and let them check the level of freon in the system. Sounds like the level may be low and this would cause the problem. Shouldn't cost you anything unless they have to add some....

Or if you are still under warranty, run by a dealer and have them check it...

Do you have Climate Control in this Max?

If you do, make sure it's on AUTO and not ECON (econ doesn't use the AC, but AUTO uses whatever it thinks it needs depending on what temperature you set it to).

Hope this helps..

you don't really need to do that, since the whole A/C system(compressor, etcs) comes on when you use the defroster. you might not see the A/C button click on, but they do turn on to produce dry air for a quicker defrost action.

make sure you are pressing the auto button not the econ....
auto = A/C
econ = heat

It must be the low freon situation, I tried every possible combination, it wouldn't come out cold air. I will pass by the dealer and have them take a look, I just thought it was weird, car is 10 months old.

Some things to check if you have done all the obvious.

1) turn it on set it to coldest setting
2) Open hood and locat the compressor. See if its clutching or not.

If its low you will hear it "click" on and off a bunch of times. If it does not click on and off at all, could be the compressor. But since its only 10 months old, I would have service look at it [cringe].
