2000 Maxima Problem-Air Chamber Leak

Need some feedback. My 2000 Maxima when cold was stalling out when it was started. I had it looked at and for 3 months left the mechanics stumped. They reprogrammed my computer system, they replaced my MAF sensor...nothing worked. Now they say it is a leak in my air chamber that when it gets warm the leak does not show up only when it is cold. To replace the whole thing is over $1000...YUCK. Yes I am over my warranty. Has anyone had these problems...I am skeptical to pay this amount of money and it to not be the correction to my problem.
