regarding some of the cheapest mod...

I wanted to search this topic last week, but...you know....

I want to get a front strut tower bar....any recommendations?

I also want to replace the rear sway bar (is this the rear stabilizer bar?...RSB???...)any recommendations???...

What about the install?

I read a post last week about getting both for about $200, and how this mod noticable improvements...can't search for it though....

And links within the org would be greatly appreciated...

My $.02

I've seen FSTB's for (I believe) as low as $50 and as high as $200 (e.g. Stillen). I bought the Courtesy Nissan bar for ~$80. Several people, myself included, have complained that the bolts freezing (these hold the rod to the strut mount plates). I like the rod because it blends in well with the engine. I dislike it fore the aforementioned bolt problem (an issue if you have to remove it) and because its not as solid as I would like (flexes too much because of these bolts). The installation is almost trivial. However, IMHO it had a very small impact on my car's handling.

As for RSB, I got the Stillen bar for ~$260. Others have gotten the Addco for I believe ~$120. I chose the Stillen model over the Addco as I felt it held the body firmer but this is somewhat debatable. Installation was mostly time consuming. There are several write-ups on how to install both models. IMHO, the RSB had a more pronounced impact on my car's handling.

Overall my best mod to date was replacing my springs. I don't know if the RSB/FSTB can be noticed more now but I can certainly say the handling was greatly improved after changing to the Eibach springs. The Eibach's cost me ~280 and the install was free (neighbor). I did check around prior to my neighbor's offer and local shops like WheelWorks would do the install for $250. Several people recommend replacing the struts at the same time. I opted not to (basically too cheap to throw away good struts and besides I'd rather wait till dialable struts are available). Hope this helps.

Thanks...I'm looking for something inexpensive for the time....I plan on moving up to the next tier...G35 coupe...I just want to feel what the max is capable of doing when mod properly....enginewise there not much to be gained from intake/exhaust...the next relatively inexpensive mod....

Thanks!

Excellent info! Thanks!

Question: Of the mods you listed above, which ones will void out your warranty?

I really don't think any will void the warranty. These are just stiffening components, RSB & FSTB. If you replace/drop the car with AM parts, then I can see why you're asking. (This may void warranty on strut/shock)

Besides, G35//350Z and I35/Maxima do this. Slighty different suspension components to tweak ride/drive (stiffen chasis or minimize roll)

And on that note, they would have to prove that replacing suspension or adding RSB/FSTB screwed up the car....
