I just came back from a day trip up to the Kittery Trading Post in Maine and I'm really starting to get irritated by an annoying little trait that my Maxima is exhibiting.

I seem to have developed a slight vibe in the steering wheel that you can really notice at highway speeds.....by no means is it brutal like a tire out of round or a bad wheel.....just enough to bug the crap out of me.

I've always had a buzz in the gas pedal but really seemed to have picked up this steering vibe at about 1400 miles...I have just over 2600 now. I could have sworn that the steering was smooth as silk prior to me noticing this.

My car is an SE with 16" rims and OEM Toyo's. I know that the SE's suspension will give a harsher ride than a GXE or a GLE but should the harshness be reflected in the steering wheel???...feels like I'm picking up every little crevice and crack in the road and it is reverbing in my hands

Does it sound like maybe I'm out of balance? Toyo's just a crap tire? Maybe related to my squeaky engine mounts? Maybe it is normal but to me its just doesnt seem that the suspension is sensitive enough to make that big of a difference in the steering wheel.....

Very annoying

My dealer loves me

definately

you need to rebalance the wheels.. if u really hate someone u can pull of their wheel weights with plyers and it'll feel like their tires are bouncing like basketballs on the freeway.. it usually starts bouncing a whole lot after th 70mph mark

yeah.. I'd say tires...

you could swap them front to back to see if that helps alittle. I drove for six hours @ 75-85, not a vibe.. picked up a nail in houston, they plugged it, six hours back with a slight vibe. It doesnt take much at those speeds. The dealer is marginally helpful on vibes. you might get a rebalance for free since the car is so new.

Also, tires these days... a pot hole can make a band slip and crazy stuff like that. It happens.. if they cant get it out with balancing, it could be a bum tire. I doubt its anything with the car itself.
